Game companies don't often comment on litigation, but Nintendo has made a habit of trumpeting its numerous patent suit victories since the 2006 debut of the Wii. Today the company touted another such victory, as the US Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit upheld a District Court judge's 2012 ruling for Nintendo in a patent suit over Wii Fit and other bits of Wii technology.
The suit was filed by IA Labs (Powergrid Fitness) in 2010, and alleged patent infringements relating to the Wii, Wii Balance Board, Wii Wheel and Wii MotionPlus. Nintendo won the case in lower court last year, with a judge determining the Mario maker had not violated any patent rights of IA Labs. The fitness company was then ordered to pay Nintendo more than $236,000 to cover legal fees, a decision upheld by the Court of Appeals.
"We are very pleased with the court's decision," Nintendo of America deputy general counsel Richard Medway said in a statement. "Nintendo has a long history of developing innovative products while respecting the intellectual property rights of others. We also vigorously defend patent lawsuits, like the IA Labs lawsuit, when we firmly believe that we have not infringed another party's patent."
WiiFlow v4.1.3 is released. WiiFlow s a Wii Game, Channel, Wiiware, Virtual Console, and Savegame Emulator intended for use with legal backups. USB Loader project, based on WiiFlow 1.1 by Hibernatus.

WiiFlow v4.1.3 Changelog:
-added my ntsc-j patch for gc games, meaning you should be able to play japanese gc games on non-japanese properly now
-updated the wii game video patching, now if you set video patching to normal or higher, it will also apply the sneek video patch, this will give you a much higher compatility in patching video modes
-added fwrite patch, just set debugger to OSReport
-fixed up some neek rev checks
-replaced the "Disabled" hooktype by "AUTO", meaning it will automatically set the hooktype VBI for you if you want to use cheats but forgot to select a hooktype
-added debugger pause back, it will be automatically enabled if you just use debugger but no cheats
-added full plugin dol path support, meaning if you use for example
dolFile=usb1:/apps/snes9xgx/boot.dol as dol file path,
wiiflow will also load it from there, if you just specify for example
dolFile=snes9xgx.dol, wiiflow will add the plugin path to it to build like
usb1:/wiiflow/plugins/snes9xgx.dol for loading
-added plugin dol path auto partition searching, meaning if you do
dolFile=apps/snes9xgx/boot.dol, wiiflow will check through
sd:/apps/snes9xgx/boot.dol, then usb1:/apps/snes9xgx/boot.dol, etc.
-updated wiiflows libraries, this should give more stability especially for cover loading
-added quadforce 4+ support
-added a new plugin argument, {name_no_ext}, it will get replaced by the filename, just without its extension
-now required and selected categories are cleared whenever you change source(s)

via http://www.aep-emu.de/

A new version of the multi-system emulators RetroArch (formerly known as SSNES) is released for Windows, XBOX, WII, PS3 and XBOX360.

SSNES is called RetroArch from now on, and ´libsnes´ is called ´libretro´ from now on.

Quote:

What is RetroArch?

RetroArch is a modular multi-system emulator system that is designed to be fast, lightweight, and portable. It has features few other emulators frontends have, such as real-time rewinding and game-aware shading.
What platforms does it support?

RetroArch sets the standard on cross-platform portability right now.

Linux (x86 and x86_64)
Windows (32bit/64bit)
Mac OSX (PPC/Intel)
Playstation 3 (PS3 SDK/PSL1GHT (WIP))
Xbox 1 (XDK)
Xbox 360 (XeXDK/Libxenon)
Wii
Raspberry Pi
OpenPandora

Why is it special?

Right now RetroArch is unique in that it runs the same emulator cores on multiple systems (such as Xbox 360, PS3, Wii, PC, etc).

For each emulator ´core´, RetroArch makes use of a library API that we like to call ´libretro´.

Think of libretro as an interface for emulator and game ports. You can make a libretro port once and expect the same code to run on all the platforms that RetroArch supports. It´s designed with simplicity and ease of use in mind so that the porter can worry about the port at hand instead of having to wrestle with an obfuscatory API.

The purpose of the project is to help ease the work of the emulator/game porter by giving him an API that allows him to target multiple platforms at once without having to redo any code. He doesn´t have to worry about writing input/video/audio drivers - all of that is supplied to him by RetroArch. All he has to do is to have the emulator port hook into the libretro API and that´s it - we take care of the rest.
A little about the Nintendo Wii

WiiWare is a service that allows Wii players to download games and applications directly to their Wii console in exchange for purchased Wii Points on the Wii Shop Channel. Online gameplay requires a code to play. It's free to play and there are no names, so kids are protected against unwanted contact. Through Wii's online component players can also gain access to hundreds of classic arcade games available for download through Wii's Virtual Console functionality. The Nintendo Channel allows players to watch gameplay videos, trailers, developer interviews, and even download Nintendo DS game demos wirelessly. Additional Wii online functionality includes a web browser and connectivity with Netflix,* which allows users to stream video efficiently and quietly by means of the console's low energy consumption internal processing.

Crediar made a small update to its cMIOS run Gamecube games from a USB device (Dios Mio) or SD (Dios Mio Lite), to fix a bug with the automatic change DVD multi-disc games. As of usual DM / DML is provided as a WAD file that overwrites the original mIOS the Wii (IOS ensuring backward compatibility Gamecube) OR QuadForce if installed.

Installation and Use Mini-tutorial: * Pre-requisite: - The latest version of DM attached - Wad Manager or File Manager Channel (or any other software capable of installing a WAD ) - A loader manager Dios Mio 2.x ( open Wiiflow-mod , USBLoader GX , CFG loader mod ) - A compatible HDD with a FAT32 partition, marked active , first on the HDD , formatted 32K if possible - conversion software games: DiscEX , GCReEX or Gamecube ISO Tool (recommended) * Installation: - Install the latest version of Dios Mio with Wad Manager or File Manager Channel (or any other software capable of installing a WAD) - Install SVN latest version of your favorite loader (note the last compiled version is not necessarily the latest SVN version!) - Your Games Gamecube should be converted, two format choices available to you: discEX or GCReEX. Gamecube ISO Tool provides a graphical interface and knows convert both formats. - The DiscEX size (-c) is recommended as it keeps the game in ISO format + bootloader while GCReEX decompresses all files (making writing and transfer of the hardest games) - The GC games will be placed in a directory "Games" at the root of the FAT32 partition - The HDD must ABSOLUTELY be connected to the Wii USB Port 0 * Usage: to detect loaders Dios Mio automatically look in the default directory "Games" at the root of the partition 1 FAT32 formatted and marked active, the HDD connected to the console port 0. No specific settings are required, UNLESS you want to enjoy 480p with your PAL games, you can force it into your loader options. Beware though, this option can cause problems with some small video games. If you have any problems (black screen or otherwise), you can consult the official FAQ Dios Mio , fairly comprehensive on the subject. ====== ================================================== === Changelog: [ Version 2.10 - 24/02/2013 ] * Fixed a bug in the code pattern detection (DVDLowReadDiskID) [Version 2.9 - 24/02/2013] * Changed patch code to Prevent false hits (DVDLowReadDiskID) * Added C_MTXLightPerspective patching (Fixed heat effects When using wide screen hack in Zelda: WW) [Version 2.8 - 24/02/2013] * Fixed a bug in GCLoader That broke the progressive patch * Moved progressive patch back 16 bytes, this PADHOOK fixed and progressive patching not working at the same time Note: Dios Mio, Dios Mio Lite QuadForce share the same installation slot (cMIOS). It is therefore possible to install only one of them according to your need (DM for HDD, DML for SD, QuadForce for games Triforce). 2.10 Dios Mios Dios Mio Lite 2.10 Official Website : https://code.google.com/p/diosmios/

Crediar no end to perfect his cMIOS to enjoy the games Triforce (arcade version of the Gamecube), following recent donations (thank you to donors). Today, it adds the ability to run games from a USB storage device to the detriment of SD devices however (if you want to continue to run games from your SD, this update is not for you and you must remain in version 4.0) NOTE: this is a cMIOS which replaces the original mIOS (or Dios Mio / Dios Mio Lite)! Once installed, QuadForce will no longer launch the Gamecube games (to find the GC compatibility, it will be essential to reinstall the original mIOS or Dios Mio / Dios Mio Lite). For this purpose, it is recommended to install a virtualized QuadForce NAND.

Fixes / Changes:

- Added support for USB storage devices

New / Fixes:

- Updated with the latest sources (GitHub) of ResidualVM
- New code to the file system
- Compiled with another library SDL Wii (better sound, more crackling in cutscenes)
- Added flag "SDL_DOUBLEBUF "
- Added residualvm.ini default, with the speed set to 100 (= 100 engine_speed) file The author states that this new version, the framerate is improved (although still frames are lost), the cutscenes work quite well and it runs better in-game. Note that only Grim Fandango is playable on Wii. ResidualVM 0.2
