This isn't a new release, I posted this 4 years ago. It's just something I rediscovered after the forum was upgraded and all our downloads went. Anyway this is a screen saver XMB for Windows made by AgentOrange of OrangeAgent.de. It's customisable with options to choose up to 32 waves, use up to 8 different colours, apply a custom background and more.

To install and use, first download and unpack the zip package to a folder of your choice. Then right click the screensaver and choose Install. Alternatively you can extract it to C:\Windows\System32 and it will appear in your list of screensavers in Display Properties.

Extract of changelog from v0.96 (previously posted version):

    - v0.98b
+ Small fixes (Position of Configuration Window, Reset Visual Options)

    - v0.98
    + Again improved Multi-Monitor Supprt.
The Screensaver should now span across all screens
    + Added more compatibility options:
    Resolution override option
(for very large desktop resolutions that your 3d card cannot support)
+ Added option to reset all settings to their default value

    - v0.97
+ Added option to pick a background image (BMP/JPG)
+ Added compatibility mode for older (onboard) gfx cards
    supporting only 512 x 512 texture resolution
    * Waves are smooth again (thx asuswild)
    * Enabled VSync by default (even smoother wave movement)
    * Fixed Speed - Setting could not be saved (thx CertifiedDORK)
    * Fixed fading error

    Article Preview

Okay, I don't normally post stuff like this but here goes. Today I was one of the lucky one who received an invite to get a chance to see the yet to be launched Nintendo 3DS along with a handful of games especially for the system. The London event was held at the Old Trueman Brewery, 91 Brick Lane. Actual entry was around the back; though anyone who attended might have the London 2008 Eurogamer Expo would probably have guessed so. This time, instead of using the main space, the Nintendo preview event was held in a smaller section on the upper floors. Then again with smaller numbers of people with allocated time slots throughout the day, there’d be no problem with capacity.

Capcom’s popular Devil May Cry series has made its debut on the App Store.

Devil May Cry 4: Refrain is available to download now, and is compatible with all of Apple’s mobile devices: iPhone, iPod Touch and iPad.

Unlike the upcoming reboot DmC – currently in development at Ninja Theory – Refrain holds true to the classic Devil May Cry formula. Players control DMC4 protagonist Nero as take on hordes of demoms and epic boss fights with his Devil Bringer arm.

Controls have been simplified to suit the game’s touch screen nature, but Capcom assures fans that the series’ signature combos and red orb upgrading system are still in place. Refrain also offers Game Center functionality, including achievements. ...

Google unveiled the results of a sting operation which shows that Microsoft have been capturing Google search results and placing them into the competing Bing search engine.

The issue relates to Microsoft's Internet Explorer and the Bing Toolbar which apparently passes search queries and visited web pages to Microsoft servers which are then later used to generate results in the Bing search engine.

"I've spent my career in pursuit of a good search engine," said Google search ranking fellow Amit Singhal. "I've got no problem with a competitor developing an innovative algorithm. But copying is not innovation, in my book."
According to a Search Engine Land report, red flags were raised in October of last year when the firm noticed a increase in overlap of Google's top 10 search results with those of Microsoft's Bing.

To confirm the suspicions, Google set up an elaborate sting operation where it for the first time ever manipulated search ranking for around 100 'synthetic' searches of nonsense terms. The terms were chosen because they returned no matches on Bing or Google.

Google then placed a honey pot page to show up in top position for the synthetic search and then on the 17th of December Google engineers ran the test queries from laptops at home running Internet Explorer with Suggested Sites and the Bing Toolbar enabled.

By the 31st of December the search results began to appear on Bing.

Microsoft was unrepentant, calling the sting a "spy-novelesque stunt".

"We use over 1,000 different signals and features in our ranking algorithm," said Microsoft Bing veep Harry Shum in a blog post.

"A small piece of that is clickstream data we get from some of our customers, who opt-in to sharing anonymous data as they navigate the web in order to help us improve the experience for all users."alleged
While Search Engine Land's Danny Sullivan pointed out that the install options for IE and the Bing Toolbar clearly mention the use of the user's search queries, he nevertheless concluded: "I've got some sympathy for Google’s view that Bing is doing something it shouldn't." ...

A fresh batch of levels are heading to the Xbox 360 version of maniac platformer Super Meat Boy after Microsoft finally approved a new patch for the game.

As revealed in a Team Meat Tweet, an update which fixes a number of glitches and bugs in the game has finally gone live today, after more than two months of back-and-forth with Microsoft. Consequently, Team Meat pledged, "we can upload new levels soon!"

According to a recent blog post, Team Meat has lined up a number of like-minded sadists from the indie scene to design level packs, including Bit.Trip studio Gaijin Games, Give Up Robot creator Matt Thorson and I Wanna Be The Guy guy Michael "Kayin" O'Reilly.

The always-busy Team Meat also offered an update for PC users waiting on the promised level editor. "Soon, working on it now actually. Should be out in a few weeks... its a HUGE update," outlined a further Tweet.

The vicious, unforgiving Super Meat Boy launched to considerable acclaim late last year – Eurogamer's very own Tom Bramwell wrote 9/10 on its report card. ...

The highly delayed and much coveted white version of the iPhone 4 should arrive in the not too distant future, according to Pocket Gamer.

Apple co-founder Steve Wozniak has also given the first explanation for the delay – apparently the white paint was allowing too much light to leak into the camera, resulting in washed out pictures. Wozniak even admitted to buying OEM Chinese case parts online and trying the white case himself to test the results.

Retail listings suggest the white SKU could arrive at the end of the month.

The last we heard Apple had stated that the white version of the iPhone 4 would be launched some time in 2011. Prior to that the device had expected to ship alongside the debut of the black machine last June, and then at some point later in 2010. ...
