The awesome multi system supporting emulator has a new release, heres what systems this release is for starting with PC, Apple Mac, Android, IOS, Playstation 3, Playstation Portable, PSVita, Xbox Original, Gamecube, Wii, Wii U, Nintendo 3DS and Raspberry PI:

RetroArch 1.7.3 has just been released! Grab it here. This latest version has also been uploaded to the Google Play Store. If you’d like to show your support, consider donating to the team. Check here in order to learn more.
RetroArch now has a WIMP GUI, powered by the powerful multimedia framework Qt! This feature is available currently for Windows and Linux. macOS users will have to wait a while longer for this feature to arrive to their platform.

The WIMP GUI works as a companion to the main RetroArch window. You bring it into view by pressing the F5 key on your keyboard. From there, you can do many tasks:

    • Select a game from any playlist
    • Browse the file system or any attached media storage device and load a game.
    • Scan directories for content and generate system playlists.
    • Associate cores to an entire playlist or associate only one entry of a playlist to a specific core

Some things we’d like to note:

    • This has been the combined work of bparker and Tatsuya79 that have worked tirelessly on this for a month. We are aware of several features that we’d like to implement, such as playlist editing, grid view layouts, etc.
    • We are open to feedback on the GUI.
    • You will likely not see this WIMP GUI on Android or iOS (or any game console for that fact) anytime soon. WIMP interfaces don’t lend themselves well to devices that rely on touchscreen or gamepad-based controls.
    • (For Linux users) The Qt GUI should definitely work on X11. If you’d like to run it on Wayland, make sure you have the appropriate packages installed for Qt5 in your package manager. Be aware that Qt 5 cannot gracefully fail right now in case a platform module/plugin is missing from your system. This means that if you invoke the companion UI by pressing F5 on Wayland, and for whatever reason the platform module that Qt relies on in order to work on Wayland is not there, there is no way for RetroArch to gracefully fail there and just not show the companion UI. There will be a crash instead. Unfortunately we have talked to some Qt developers and they see no other way around this for now. The same situation applies for DRM/KMS right now. If we can find a better solution to this, we will certainly return to it.
    • (For mac Users) You will have to wait a bit longer for this to arrive to the Mac port unfortunately. Hopefully that wait is not too long.
    • We would like to still improve initial bootup times for the companion UI. Right now, on first initial startup, it can take anywhere from 5 to 10 seconds (depending on your harddrive and its performance), but on subsequent boots should only take 2 seconds or less for first startup. Hopefully by resorting to Link Time Code Generation and other avenues we can shave off some more seconds off this boot time.

REMAPS: Mapping an analog to another analog (having more than one analog mapped to the same output causes issues)
REMAPS: Mapping an analog to produce a button response
SCANNER: Should be able to scan dual-layer Wii disc images now, filestream code now supports files larger than 4GB.
SHADERS/SLANG: Slang shaders should work again on Android version and MSVC versions (basically all the Griffin-based versions).

Heres a updated version of the Snes Emulator for the 3DS from bubble2k16:

Never thought I'd be making such a major change to this emu anymore, but here it is:

    v1.30 released:

    Improved sound synchronization.
Added BlargSNES DSP Core (experimental) for performance. The original Snes9X DSP core (default) suffers from sound skipping in some games like Aladdin and Gradius 3. You can choose which DSP core to use from the Options menu. The BlargSNES DSP Core sounds similar to the Snes9x Core for most games. Sounds like Final Fantasy 3's the howling wind sound different.
Added support for Tengai Makyou Zero English Patch (for hopefully all future versions)

If you have hacked your 3DS this is probably the release that will open your eyes to what is about on the 3DS scene, heres whats new:

    4.1.2

Cache fix for TLSv1.1 revoke by GitHub.
Further improvements to overall system stability and other minor adjustments have been made to enhance the user experience.
    Russian language updated ( #1 ), minor update to American Spanish ( #2 ).

Note that the TLSv1.1 revoke will cause theCruel's original version of freeShop (freeShop 2.0) to become unusuable. It's strongly recommended to upgrade to CE version, if you haven't done so already.

-- Special hugs to @Byokugen for being there from beginning to end! She's awesome

If your going to hack your 3DS or indeed your 2DS then youll need this app:

FBI is an open source file and title manager by Steveice10 for the Nintendo 3DS. Discussion via GBAtemp.

    Release notes:
    * Clean up various bits of core code.
    * Fix font size on CHN/KOR/TWN devices.
    * HTTP operations now support gzip/deflate compression, which should reduce bandwidth usage when supported by the server.
    * Load file metadata after populating full list. Directories containing a lot of CIAs should populate faster now, although detailed information will not be immediately available for all files until loading has finished.
    – File operations for which file metadata is unnecessary should also load faster.
    * Modify built-in updater to pull from TitleDB, as GitHub no longer supports TLS versions supported by the 3DS.
    * Rewrite TitleDB support.
    – Titles can be installed as a 3DSX and/or a CIA, depending on availability.
    — Descriptions and categories are displayed in the main TitleDB list, and detailed information is displayed for CIA and 3DSX versions after selecting a title.
    – Entries will be blue when a newer version is available. Note that all installed titles will be marked as outdated until installed with version 2.5.0 or later through TitleDB, as the last installed version must be added to the cache.
    * All outdated titles can be updated at once by pressing Y in the TitleDB list.
    – Basic sorting and filtering options have been added.
A lot of internal changes were made leading up to this release. Make sure to report any glitches and crashes that may have been missed.
Also, the built-in updater should no longer work on versions older than 2.5.0, as GitHub has disabled TLSv1.1 support.

Heres a port of a decent looking Jet Set Willy type game for the Nintendo 3DS, heres the release notes:

Locomalito‘s game L’Abbaye des Morts has been ported to the Nintendo 3DS by JeffRuLz! It’s written in C using the libctru and citro3d libraries. The gameplay is directly inspired by Manic Miner and Jet Set Willy. This port seems to run fullspeed!
    Story:
In the 13th century, the Cathars, who preach about good Christian beliefs, were being expelled by the Catholic Church out of the Languedoc region in France. One of them, called Jean Raymond, found an old church in which to hide, not knowing that beneath its ruins lay buried an ancient evil.

I have a hacked 3DS but i use a Gateway Card so not sure what this app is, (remember i had a good year away from homebrew), but anyway heres the release notes:

Despite all the copyright infringement caused by this utility, Evi offers version 4.1.1 of " freeShop ", open source clone, originally developed by TheCruel , the famous online store Eshop for nintendo 2DS / 3DS.

    v4.1.1 Removed leftover Halloween
The startup sound shouldnt mess anymore.

    v4.1.0 Derpy fix hotfix
Okay apparently in the CMakeLists.txt version, but since nobody told me that I forgot to update it. That is now fixed.

    4.1.0 changes:

Changed cache storage to sdmc: / 3ds / freeShop since nobody uses data folders anymore for homebrew.
Updated the application to display the new version properly.
If your settings are broken after install, move the sdmc: / 3ds / data / freeShop folder to sdmc: / 3ds / freeShop using your computer or GM9.

    freeShop v4 - Community Edition
    CODE NAME: ROW ROW

Below you can download the Community Edition of freeShop.
No major changes have been made for the end user.
For developers there is now a Vagrantfile available to simplify development and building of cpp3ds / 3ds_portlibs.
See the wiki of the fork for details.

    Oh and this as usual:
Further improvements to overall system stability and other minor adjustments.
