Looks like Razer's not buying the whole "console > PC" argument. The company just went live with a new website that couldn't possibly be more esoteric. Aside from telling us that "there's something terribly wrong with gaming today," we aren't given much to go regarding its impending announcement. Apparently, something "big" is coming on the 26th of August, and whatever it is (Switchblade, perhaps?), it'll remind the world that PC gaming is, in fact, not dead. Hit the source link to sign up for more, or head on past the break for a look at the ominous teaser vid.

In part one I showed you that you could install a linux distro on a new computer and transplant it into a 386 computer in a short amount of time and with little effort. Now it is time to move on to bigger and beefier machines like 486′s, Pentiums and better.
I am going to break this quick tutorial down into sections based on installed RAM. While this won’t be a “how to” for all old PCs in the world I hope to at least send you in the right direction. I will mention a few distributions mainly for the super low ram machines. Its not my intent to start a distrubution war, and I have not personally sat down with every single one to make a educated assessment. However, you’re more than welcome to chime in.
Join us after the break and see what options you have for that old “boat anchor” sitting in the closet!

What an achievement. 505 Games’ Zumba Fitness has this week claimed its tenth successive UK No.1.
It’s the games 13th time atop of the UKIE Gfk Chart-Track All Formats Top 40.
However, the chances of Zumba claiming its 14th No.1 next week are less enticing, what with the upcoming arrival of Square Enix’s Deus Ex: Human Revolution on Friday (August 26th).
There’s a new entry in the Top Ten this week, too – Nintendo’s Wii RPG Xenoblade Chronicles, which debuts in seventh position. And thanks to the 3DS price cut, fellow Nintendo adventure title The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time also performs well, climbing nine places to No.4.
EA’s The Sims 3 and Ubisoft pair Just Dance 2: Extra Songs and Call of Juarez: The Cartel all fall out of the Top Ten.
Here’s the Uk Top 20 in full:
    1. Zumba Fitness (505 Games)
    2. LEGO Pirates of the Caribbean (Disney)
    3. Cars 2 (Disney)

Virgin Gaming has increased its prize fund to €3 million (£2.6m) in cash over the next 12 months.
The service was launched in June last year, when it offered cash prizes worth $1 million (£606,000) over the following 12 months. The new fund has raised that amount by more than 400 per cent.
The extra money is necessary to support a new tournament format, Series Tournaments, which is launching this Thursday.
Series Tournaments will allow Virgin Gaming members to enter, leave, and resume tournaments with more freedom, allowing tournaments to be played more often and resolved more quickly.
"We're always listening to our members, and one thing we kept hearing was they wanted more frequent tournaments for larger prize pools,' said Virgin Gaming co-founder Zachary Zeldin in a statement.
"We can't wait for them to try this new style of tournament; it's going to let us to host more games and accommodate our unrivalled million euro prize pools."
At the time of its launch, Virgin Gaming's financial structure returned 88 per cent of player fees as cash prizes, and took the remaining 12 per cent as a management fee.
Earlier this month, the service further expanded its game portfolio by signing a partnership agreementwith Ubisoft.

An anonymous reader sends word that the first Firefox 7.0 beta has been released. One of the big areas of focus for this version will be performance enhancements. One optimization "Reduces memory use and improves performance areas including responsiveness, startup and page load time, even in complex websites and Web apps." Another addresses one of Firefox users' long-standing gripes: "The JavaScript garbage collector works more frequently to free up memory and improve performance when you have many tabs open or keep Firefox running for a long time."http://news.slashdot.org/story/11/08/19/1652201/Firefox-70-Beta-Released ...

With the latest Windows 8 build (8064) that has been delivered to Intel, it's clear that the company is taking strides to make sure that its upcoming OS isn't quite so easy to pirate. For starters, the generic volume license keys that were so easily exploited during the early days of Windows 7 leaks will no longer be an option for pirates. Product keys also won't be shipped in the prodkey.txt file included in the build packages. Instead, installers will need to retrieve a unique key from a Microsoft web page. There's also a good possibility that the recently-surfaced fast booting patent could come into play as well. If Microsoft does indeed have designs on using a remote server to push OS code to systems at boot time, that code would be a very clever place to embed activation-related programming. Even if a crack was discovered, it would be neatly undone during a subsequent start-up sequence — similar to the way Microsoft's now-idle Windows Steady State could turn back the clock on an entire Windows installation after rebooting."Microsoft has also indirectly confirmed in a recent blog post that Windows 8 will make use of an app store.
