VitaShell is the TheFlow’s famous file manager that’s installed on almost every HENkaku/taiHEN-enabled PSVita/PSTV console. TheFlow didn’t just stop at making it a great file manager but kept on adding features to make it even better.

    VitaShell 1.96 brings along:

    1. The ability to skip between pages (17 on-screen items) in the file browser and SFO viewer by using the L/R triggers
    2. Ability to move files between partitions by executing a ‘copy and remove’ command
    3. A bug was fixed in which VitaShell forgot whether the user wanted to disable the VPK install warning dialogue
    4. Some changes relating to USB mass device file transfer were undone due to issues with VPK installation
      • Hopefully, the memory card corruption fixed in VitaShell 1.95 doesn’t re-emerge

    5. The QR code reader/downloader no longer works because the way to trigger it (holding the L/R trigger) has been reassigned to something else (see point 1)

HENkaku Ensō is, without a doubt, installed on most hacked FW 3.60/5 as it gives a full untether. Due to what it achieves, it modifies system files and as a result, a simple bug can potentially brick your system. Thankfully, version 1.1 has been released to address the only such bug that the installer had!

A few hours ago, Yifan Lu released version 1.1 of HENkaku Ensō which brought about the following:

    • A fix to the bricking bug which happened if you tried to uninstall HENkaku after removing it by reinstalling a firmware PUP file.
      • It must be noted that the problem was in the installer itself as the payload wasn’t changed.
      • HENkaku Ensō 1.1 only updates the installer so DO NOT reinstall the payload!
      • As a result, you won’t notice anything different when installing the updated installer and you should not reinstall HENkaku Ensō through it if it’s already installed!

In more detail, the bricking bug is triggered when you re/install a 3.60/3.65 PUP file without uninstalling Ensō beforehand. Then, if you proceed to uninstall Ensō via the installer, your system is bricked forever. This bug happens because when you install a PUP file, HENkaku Ensō is automatically removed but the installer doesn’t detect this. Due to this, the uninstaller tries to remove Ensō again and restores an old MBR backup that kills the Vita!

Does overclocking the Vita actually do anything, well heres a release that may answer that question:

Like the PSP, the PSVita normally runs in an underclocked mode with a CPU frequency of 333MHz rather than 444MHz. However, the plugin LOLIcon manages to truly overclock the PSVita past 444MHz to 500MHz!

Unlike plugins like OclockVita and PSV VSH Menu, LOLIcon overclocks the PSVita’s CPU to 500MHz (or 494MHz according to Yifan Lu) which isn’t an officially supported frequency. On a more technical note, this true overclock was achieved by messing around with the direct registers which control the ARM CPU’s clock speeds.

LOLIcon also has a nice and easy-to-use menu with extra features!

Other than its overclocking ability which grants extra extra FPS in games/homebrew, it also has other features such as:

    • A menu reminiscent of PSV VSH Menu to manage the plugin’s settings
    • Configuration profiles for every game
    • An FPS counter
    • An X/O button swapper
    • More features are planned for the future which may make this the ultimate overclocking/in-game menu plugin!

    Heres some PSVita Hacking News:

Today, PS Vita hacker TheFlow announced that he will soon start working on improvements for his popular hack h-encore. H-encore is a full control (a.k.a kernel) exploit for the PS Vita, that works up to the latest firmware, 3.68 (see here for details).
Specifically, with h-encore 2.0, TheFlow intends to bring the following improvements:

    • Faster launch of Henkaku (this will be achieved by not running the bootstrap menu by default)
    • Option to fix trophies in the bootstrap menu
    • Improving the reliability of the exploit. The hacker says that currently it fails about 20% of the time, which is not a huge problems but means relaunching the hack multiple times for the people who run into issues.

Knowing TheFlow, there are chance he won’t stop to only these features, and add a few more things here and there for the community. Let’s stay tuned.
Additionally, according to the hacker, h-encore is still downloaded more than 1000 times each day, a nice stat for a tool that’s “already” 2 months old!

Heres news of a great Jailbreak for the Playstation Vita:

    • On 3.65 Systems you can install and enjoy the Enzo CFW framework and on systems with Firmware 3.67 & 3.68 you can now use the Henkaku Exploit.
h-encore, where h stands for hacks and homebrews, is the second public jailbreak for the PS Vita™ which supports the newest firmwares 3.65, 3.67 and 3.68. It allows you to make kernel- and user-modifications, change the clock speed, install plugins, run homebrews and much more.

      Requirements
      • Your device must be on firmware 3.65, 3.67 or 3.68. Any other is not supported. If you're on a lower firmware, please decide carefully to what firmware you want to update, then search for a trustable guide on /r/vitahacks (if you know how and want to contribute, you can edit this readme and make a pull request, such that fellow readers have got an easier life). Remember that on firmware 3.65 you have got the possibility to install enso, the permanent hack, whereas on 3.67 and 3.68 you don't.
      • If your device is a phat OLED model, you need a Memory Card in order to install. There's no need for a Memory Card on Slim/PS TV models, since they already provide an Internal Storage. Make sure you have got at least 270 MB of free space.
      • Your device must be linked to any PSN account (it doesn't need to be activated though).

      Installation
Note that the following guide is for advanced users and a bit more complicated than the previous hack that only required you to visit a website. If you don't understand the guide below or how to use these tools, you should neither file an issue here nor annoy me on twitter, but rather seek help on /r/vitahacks (check for duplicated questions first!) or wait for an easy installer by somebody else.

      1. Download h-encore and extract it on your computer.
      2. Download and install qcma, psvimgtools and pkg2zip (check the releases section for the binaries).
If you don't know where to put psvimgtools and pkg2zip binaries, just put them in the h-encore folder.
      3. Download the vulnerable DRM-free demo of bitter smile (yes, that's the user entry point).
      4. Extract the demo using this command in terminal/cmd:
        Code:
        pkg2zip -x PATH_OF_PKG
This will output the files to app/PCSG90096.
      5. Copy the contents of the output app/PCSG90096 to the folder h-encore/app/ux0_temp_game_PCSG90096_app_PCSG90096 (such that the files eboot.bin and VITA_PATH.TXT are within the same folder).
      6. Copy the license file app/PCSG90096/sce_sys/package/temp.bin to the folder
h-encore/license/ux0_temp_game_PCSG90096_license_app_PCSG90096 and rename the just pasted file temp.bin to 6488b73b912a753a492e2714e9b38bc7.rif. Be careful with the file extension, it should not be .rif.bin. Again, this file should be in the same folder as VITA_PATH.TXT.
      7. Start qcma and within the qcma settings set the option Use this version for updates to FW 0.00 (Always up-to-date) to spoof the System Software check.
      8. Launch Content Manager on your PS Vita and connect it to your computer, where you then need to select PC -> PS Vita System, and after that you select Applications. If you see an error message about System Software, you should simply reboot your device to solve it (if this doesn't solve, then put your device into airplane mode and reboot). This should create a folder at PS Vita/APP/xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx on your computer (see qcma settings where this folder is), where the folder xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx represents the AID (account ID that is 16 characters long) that you need to insert here. If the AID is valid, it will yield a key that you can now use to encrypt the demo.
      9. Change directory to the h-encore folder in terminal/cmd and use the key to encrypt all folders using (make sure you don't confuse the key with the AID, the key is 64 characters long!):
        Code:
        psvimg-create -n app -K YOUR_KEY app PCSG90096/app
        psvimg-create -n appmeta -K YOUR_KEY appmeta PCSG90096/appmeta
        psvimg-create -n license -K YOUR_KEY license PCSG90096/license
        psvimg-create -n savedata -K YOUR_KEY savedata PCSG90096/savedata
The folder h-encore/PCSG90096 should then contain sce_sys and all 4 folders from above, and within these folders you should find files called X.psvimg and X.psvmd, where X has the same name as the folder. Backup this folder, since if everything has been done correctly, you don't need to redo all the steps to install it onto another device with the same PSN account.
      10. Copy the folder h-encore/PCSG90096 to PS Vita/APP/xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx/PCSG90096 and refresh the database under qcma settings.
      11. The h-encore bubble with a size of around 243 MB should now appear in the Content Manager and that's what you finally need to transfer to your PS Vita. If the size does not match or you get the error C2-12858-4, then it's because you did not do it correctly! Please re-read the instructions more carefully then. If you get the error You can only copy applications that your account is the owner of, then it's because you have used an AID that is not of your account, go back to step 8.
      12. Launch h-encore to exploit your device (if a message about trophies appears, simply click yes). The screen should first flash white, then purple, and finally open a menu called h-encore bootstrap menu where you can download

Some great news for PSvita fans:

    • The long awaited exploit for the PS Vita has finally been given a release date. When we first received news of the exploit, we were told it would likely release in 1-2 years, but luckily Vita hacker TheFloW mangaed to find a second exploit for 3.68 and get us an earlier release. The exploit will work on firmware versions 3.65 to 3.68 you do not need an official Sony memory card or an internet connection to use it. If you are on 3.65, you will be able to install HENkaku Ensō, but unluckily those on 3.67 and above won't be able to. I've included a guide for updating to stock 3.65 from 3.61/3.63.

Heres some great news for PSVita owners (like myself)

A couple of hours ago, TheFlow revealed that he had been working on another exploit chain for the PSVita during the last month and now, he has almost pieced it together! That by itself is great news since it means that even after he releases the exploit he’s been promising, he’ll still be sitting on yet another hack for a higher FW. This is great since Sony will presumably release a firmware update to patch his FW 3.65-3.68 hack.

However, the good news doesn’t end there as TheFlow also announced that he will be releasing his upcoming hack in September 2018! This new ETA is more specific than ‘not before next September’ which he revealed to us a short while, so that means that in 3 months or so, you’ll be able to hack your PSVita/PSTV running FW 3.61-3.68!

Obviously, this is very exciting news since those stuck on a firmware higher than FW 3.60 will be able to hack their PSVita/PSTV to make it more useful but there are still things to look out for!

    What should you do now?

This is the question on everybody’s mind after major news and it’ll be explained here so that you won’t regret any impulse actions!

    You should do the following:

    • If you have a PSVita/PSTV running firmware 3.60, stay there or use TheFlow’s CFW Updater if you really want to install firmware 3.65. Currently, you should not update since FW 3.65-3.68 still aren’t hackable since TheFlow hasn’t released his upcoming hack just yet!
    • If your PSVita/PSTV is running firmware 3.61 or 3.63, you’re safe to update to firmware 3.65 NOT firmware 3.67/3.68!!
      • You should update to firmware 3.65 because TheFlow’s upcoming hack won’t support firmware 3.61 and 3.63. However, you shouldn’t update to firmware 3.67/3.68 because they won’t be getting untethered HENkaku (HENkaku Ensō) so you’ll have to reapply HENkaku/taiHEN every time you reboot!

    • Those on firmware 3.65 should stay there for the above reason.
    • However, if your PSVita/PSTV is running firmware 3.67 or 3.68, there isn’t much to do at this point except for waiting. While not necessary for hacking the PSVita, HENkaku Ensō will save you the headache of having to reapply taiHEN every reboot!

You’re safe to update to FW 3.68 if you’re on FW 3.67 so that you can still use PSN since not much has changed between the two.

    Conclusion

As usual, patience is key here and nagging TheFlow won’t get his hack released any faster. That means that you should patiently wait till September arrives for TheFlow’s release since after all, he doesn’t owe you anything!

Ive got big hopes for this as the PSVita doesnt have the greatest catalogue of games:

mGBA is a Game Boy Advance emulator written in C. The project started in April 2013 with the goal of being fast enough to run on lower end hardware than other emulators support, without sacrificing accuracy or portability. Even in the initial version, games generally play without problems. It is loosely based on the previous GBA.js emulator, although very little of GBA.js can still be seen in mGBA.
    Changes:
    Bugfixes:
    * GB Audio: Revert unsigned audio changes
    * GB Video: Fix bad merge (fixes #1040)
    * GBA Video: Fix OBJ blending regression (fixes #1037)

Some great news for PSVita Fans:

Vita might not have any official love from Sony anymore, but TheFlow does, and doing so also remembers most portable Sony gamers, still love the original PSP games as such he has recently updated Adrenaline twice in one day with some nice bug fixes and neat new features.
    Adrenaline-6.3 brings about the following:

    • The Adrenaline menu has been improved and now has an option to reset Adrenaline’s settings.
    • The ‘Screen Mode’ and ‘Screen Size’ options were removed. In their place, we now separate have Screen Scaling options for PSX and PSP games. I personally think there should be some defaults that stick to specific aspect ratios rather than giving the user too much choice.

As you can see, this release has some minor features that could somewhat improve your experience especially if you play both PSP and PSX titles on your PSVita.

    Adrenaline-6.2 brings about the following:

    1. f.lux, by Rinnegatamante, has been added. This warms up the screen’s colours so that less blue light is emitted from it and as a result, it’s easier on your eyes especially in the dark and at night.
    2. A bug was fixed in which PSX games no longer have framerate issues when a custom screen filter is used.
    3. Compatibility with ‘Kingdom Hearts: Birth by Sleep’ English patch has been fixed as it was broken in Adrenaline-6.1.
    4. Other bug fixes including one that prevents certain games from crashing Adrenaline when exiting them.

Furthermore, updating Adrenaline has become a simpler affair. To update Adrenaline, extract the VPK from the link below and copy the ‘sce_module’ folder to ux0:/app/PSPEMUCFW and replace all files when prompted to do so. Obviously, you need to have Adrenaline-6 or later already installed to use these instructions.

To get Adrenaline-6.3, simply download the VPK from the link below and copy the PSP’s 6.61 PBP to ux0:/app/PSPEMUCFW after renaming it to ‘661.PBP’. You can follow the above instructions to update Adrenaline if it’s already installed.

If you have any issues, report them to TheFlow through the GitHub link below.

Nice to see the PSVita get new releases, heres the release notes:

Recently, there been alot of talk about using the 'Unity' game development engine, and now developers @SilicaAndPina have put together some handy UnityTools to make it easier to get your games up and running on your hacked/modded PlayStation Vita.
    Arguments:

    • -i Input DIR
    • -o output DIR
    • -f Fix the "Unsafe homebrew" bug (that prevents the game from launching if unsafe homebrew is enabled)
    • -u Remove the "trial version" watermark caused by development license in the bottom right corner
    • -r Remove unused files from your build
    • -p Pack to "PC HOSTED" builds to .VPK
    • -d Remove input directory after packing into .vpk

Also, after building a "PC HOSTED" application with UNITY. you can just drag n drop the folder onto the application and it will run: -f -u -r -p -d on it.
