To celebrate the October release of Forza 4, Microsoft is also releasing a new racing wheel: The Xbox 360 Wireless Speed Wheel.

According to the press release it's "controlled intuitively" and features haptic feedback with rumble. There are also trigger buttons for gas and brake and "green bands of lights on each handle to provide visual cues when necessary".

The device will be compatible with all racing games out of the box, including Forza and old titles that used the old wired, clunky steering wheels. The wheel will also support Kinect. However the small print reveals there will be "limited functionality in some games".

The Wireless Speed Wheel, will have a worldwide launch in early October. There's no word on a European price yet but it'll cost $59.99 (around Ł35) in the US. No news if the new wheel will be featured in any bundles with Forza 4 itself. ...

    4. Wii U News

Nintendo took the wraps off its newest home game console and the successor to the Wii. It’s called Wii U and it offers the 1080p HD graphics capabilities Nintendo fans have long been hoping for, as well as a controller that features a 6.2-inch touchscreen.

Nintendo showed off the machine and its new controller at a press conference kicking off this week’s video game extravaganza known as the Electronic Entertainment Expo (E3) taking place in Los Angeles.

"It’s a system that we will all enjoy together but also is tailor-made for you,” said Nintendo of America president Reggie Fils-Aime. “It’s different from anything you’ve played before. It can change the way you game personally and it can chance the way you play with your family and friends.”

Nintendo president Satoru Iwata told the audience that Wii U will be compatible with all other Wii accessories — the Balance Board as well as the Remote and Nunchuk but will also use the new controller.

A few details about the new controller: It has a 6.2 inch touchscreen, gyroscope and accelerometer for tilt control, it’s got full traditional Nintendo stick and button controls on either side of the screen, triggers on the back, a microphone, speakers and an inward facing camera.

Nintendo has not revealed many of the details about the Wii U console itself, but Nintendo reps have said that the console itself comes with internal flash memory that can be upgraded with SD cards and other USB solutions and that it plays proprietary high-density optical discs and will access downloadable content as well.

In a video displayed at the press event, Nintendo showed off how the touchscreen controller can offer players two different perspectives on the same game. You can get one perspective on the action from your TV screen or a completely different perspective on the controller screen.

You can use both the TV and controller screen at the same time, or you can play a game on the controller without using the TV at all … though Iwata told the audience that the controller is not meant to be a portable game machine that can be played away from the console.

Iwata told the packed audience that Nintendo’s goal has been to get rid of the divide between gamers and non-gamers and to erase the boundaries that divide players by age and gender. And he said that, with the Wii and DS, the company has made strides in that direction.

But he pointed out that not all divides have been erased with some game hardware (say, the Xbox 360 and PS3) being seen as accessible only to the most passionate players while the Wii has been perceived as being for more casual players.

“As an industry, what we haven’t achieved yet is a game machine that is equally satisfying for all players,” he said. “Yet this is exactly what we intend to create with our new home platform. The new platform will provide deeper experiences than even the most passionate gamer has experienced and wider experiences than even the Wii has delivered. It will let everyone see games in a different way.”

If you didn't know, Electronic Entertainment Expo (E3) is taking place this week in Los Angeles. During Sony's Monday night press conference, they have finally revealed the official name for their forthcoming handheld game machine. Previously codenamed NGP, the device is now officially called PlayStation Vita.

Sony executive Kaz Hirai arrived on stage to announce that Sony will offer both a Wi-Fi only model as well as a 3G model available later this year. He said the Wi-Fi only model will cost $249 and the 3G/Wi-Fi model will retail for $299. Hirai announced that Sony has partnered exclusively with AT&T to be the American carrier for the 3G version of Vita. This actually drew some laughs and groans from the crowd.

Sony executives said there are more than 80 titles currently in development for Vita. Among them, "Uncharted: Golden Abyss," "LittleBigPlanet" and "ModNation Racers."

During the press event, Naughty Dog showed off how the "Uncharted" game will take advantage of Vita's two touch pads and tilt capabilities and just how good it will look on the sprawling 5-inch OLED screen.

In a surprise announcement, Ken Levine, founder of Irrational Games, said his company will be making an NGP game set in the "BioShock" universe.

Cheers went up as a trailer for "Street Fighter X Tekken" played on a giant screen in front of the packed house. Yoshinori Ono of Capcom not only arrived on stage to tell the happy audience that they would be making a version of the game for Vita, but he also played it in front of the audience on the big screen.

Game executives not only touted Vita's power and connectivity, but the way games would be able to be played both on Vita as well as the PlayStation 3.

"We’re confident that the PlayStation Vita will be the first device to truly blur the lines between entertainment and real life," Hirai said.

    • iPod/iPad/iPhone USB Cable
    • US/Mexico/Canada AC plug
    • UK AC Plug
    • Australia/New Zealand AC Plug
    • Asia/Europe AC Plug

Quality/Usability : XCM Multi-Charger Plus is an update to XCM's popular Multi-Charger. I was a huge fan of the original multi-charger and used it everyday. Finding an available USB plug or without having to turn on a computer can be hard and cumbersome. Especially when you have other electronic devices that uses USB ports to charge.

The back has a port to plug in the AC 100-240v cable. The front contains four USB ports...the same amount found on its predecessor. But what makes this different from the original is that on the top of the charger, there are four round ports. These four ports allows you to insert two PlayStation Move controllers and two PlayStation Move Navigation controllers. Each port has its own LED. LED turns red when its charging and green when its completely charged. The base also lights up with a blue LED accent. What's also cool is that the rim around the PlayStation Move ports also light up blue.

Charging USB devices takes about the same if you were to charge them through the wall with a normal USB cable or its original AC adapter.

The Multi-Charger Plus measures 7.5" inches (L) x 1.75" inches (H) and about 4.5" inches (D). Just like the Multi-Charger, included are four AC plugs (Europe/Asia, USA/Mexico/Canda, Australia/New Zealand, UK). The plugs are short in length so you will not be able to place it on a table or next to your computer. Wires measure about 16 inches long from tip of plug that inserts into XCM Multi-Charger Plus to the base of AC plug (not the prongs). Also included are four USB charging cables (iPod/iPad/iPhone, PSP, NDS, 3DS). You do not have to use the included cables if you already have USB cables that came with the devices. I highly suggest using what you already have.

Conclusion : Overall, the XCM Multi-Charger Plus worked great! I was glad that XCM still included the four USB ports with the ability to charge PlayStation Move controllers. However, the length of the AC power cable is still short. If you want to use the XCM Multi-Charger Plus, you'll have to keep it on the ground and very very close to the wall outlet unless you have it connected to an extension cord. This was one of my pet-peeves and XCM has disappointed me. The price point is also about the same as the original and is a bit high. Two of the highly used USB ports, micro and mini USB is not included. It would of been nice if they included these since its used on cellphones and PS3/Xbox 360 controllers.

Well its been a busy few days since Martin upgraded not only the server but upgraded the forum to the latest version of Vbulletin and installed many new security features, hopefully this will stop the hacking that has done damage to the name of DCEmu.

The last few days i have been posting like crazy and now we are back up to date and what a month it has been, if you follow the PSP, DS and Wii scenes you have seen so many new releases, infact i havent seen so much activity in a long time and some genuine great releases, the weeks away has really renewed my passion for homebrew.

One thing i am going to do is bring back the old sites for archive purposes so that releases especially older ones can be found easy, there are thousands of pages on those sites that form a major history of the site and whilst the new CMS is great theres a need to be able to relive those releases, that is my next task and an ongoing one until they are all online.

Over the last 4 days i have posted literally hundreds of news items and a couple of hundred Homebrew releases, so if you havent yet then check the forums to catch up on releases you may not have seen before.

The Homebrew scene seems to be coming out of a dark period where homebrew was just linked to piracy and its good to remember that Homebrew is and never wil be the same as piracy.

Long Live DCEmu and The Homebrew Scene,

    thanks for your time

    5. When using the XFPS Commando on PC, the XFPS Commando receiver USB port function will be sealed off. You will not be able to connect a PS3 or Xbox 360 controller.

I must admit, I suck when it comes to FPS when using the analog sticks on a controller. Once I start shooting, I have poor control over my aim and spray bullets everywhere. However, I do better when it comes to aiming a physical device such as a gun or using a mouse to point and click (BTW, I don't play PC games). The movement of the mouse feels fairly smooth compared to recent attempts at a keyboard/mouse adapters. During my testing, I did not notice any dead zones. This is what we all look for as we don't want to play a game and the pointer jumps or skips and you're unable to kill your foe. The mouse is configurable. If the mouse movement is too slow or too fast, you can simply adjust the sensitivity of the mouse by holding the RC/R3 button and using the or to increase or decrease sensitivity, respectively.

The fact that it is a 'plug and play' is a big plus. No keyboard/mouse setup is required neither is a computer needed. Commando is very straight forward...plug and play! However, a wired controller MUST be used. You can not use a Play and Charge Kit. You can use 3rd party controllers such as MadCatz, Hori, Gamestop branded controllers and many more. Just make sure to hold onto the receipt incase these controllers don't work. Officially licensed Microsoft Xbox 360 controllers work without a problem. I myself used a MadCatz controller that I bought off eBay for cheap just the use of activating any XCM adapters.

Two 180° buttons located where a scroll wheel would be on a normal mouse. Would be nice to have a horizontal mouse so gamers can scroll which direction they want to go 180°s. Is it faster than the controller? No. The speed is the same as if you were to turn using the joystick. Regardless whether there is one or two 180° buttons, the location is in a bad location. In order to reach the bottom 180° button, you have to take your hand/fingers off the mouse just to be able to press the button. What makes it worse is that the RC/R3 button is between both 180° buttons. Depending on the game, you may accidentally press the button and causing you to lose. For instance, in Call of Duty, RC/R3 is the melee button and just when you want to melee your opponent, you press the 180° button and you end up turning around. There goes your surprise attack. You also can not program any of the 180° buttons.

XFPS Commando has 8 Turbo/Rapid Fire switches. The speed of Turbo/Rapid Fire is 20 shots per second. Note: Turbo feature does not work on PC.

If you want to do a custom setting for the Xbox 360™, you will need to connect a Xbox 360™ wired controller to the XFPS Commando receiver and switch the DEFAULT/SET button to SET. For instance, you want to set the "A" button on Xbox 360™ wired controller to the "B/●" button on the mouse of XFPS Commando. First, press the "P" program switch, the program indicator changes to RED and will brighten. Now press the "A" button on the Xbox 360™ wired controller and wait until the Receiver Program indicator flashes, then press the "B/●" key on the mouse. The "Program LED indicator" will stop blinking. Your programming is completed. All programming will be saved on the XFPS Commando even if the device is disconnected and turned off. There is no need to reprogram your custom configurations on the next usage. *Custom configurations do not work on PC.

To clear/reset your custom configurations, press the "P" program switch, the program indicator changes to RED and will brighten. Now press the mouse "B/●" key and the function on "B/●" key is now set back to default. To erase all programmed configurations on your XFPS Commando, simply press the "P" button for 3 seconds until the Receiver Program indicator stops blinking.

There are only a couple of buttons that are not programmable:
    • Mouse: Mouse movement (Up, Down, Left, Right), 180° buttons
    • Commando Controller: Guide/ button and directional buttons.

Lots of Xbox 360 gamers who purchased any of XCM's prior XFPS line that uses mouse and keyboard, have been wanting to use wired headsets and there is only one other product that allowed you to (XCM XFPS Live). With the XFPS Commando, since the Xbox 360 controller is connected to the receiver, you are able to use a wired headset. Your comments and suggestions has been answered!

Of all the XCM products we have reviewed, this may have disappointed me. The quality of the plastic and its construction felt cheap. It doesn't mean it will fall apart or break. It just felt cheap in the hands. The d-pad and buttons on the left hand controller felt mushy. The d-pad didn't have that normal feel found on the PS3 controller. For the suggested retail price of the product, I would have liked to see a bit more quality in the plastic. So as long it works, that's all it matters...I guess.

But what I do like is the fact that the XFPS Commando is upgradeable. You can download the latest updates from XCM here (Windows only). With the latest update 1.2, you are able to use the left analog stick on the Commando controller to function as a Sixaxis by using the analog stick only as Sixaxis controller (Mode 1), analog stick as Sixaxis controller and XY tilt function (front, back, left, right - Mode 2), or analog stick only as XY tilt function (Mode 3). Personally, when it comes to emulating Sixaxis controls, I prefer not to use it as I feel its a gimmick. Note: This works ONLY on games that support Sixaxis controls.

Conclusion : Overall, the XCM XFPS Commando is a "modern" version of a mouse and keyboard. You still have the mouse for aiming and such but the nunchuk now replaces what you would normally do on a keyboard. While the XFPS Commando has a cheap plastic construction feel, the product is still sturdy. The ability to reprogram buttons is a plus as everyone has their own preferred setup and configuration. The multiple 180° buttons is unnecessary and the location is a bad choice and you also can not reprogram the 180° buttons. The wired headset support for the Xbox 360 is a nice addition as not everyone owns a wireless headset or want to go out and purchase one. If there is any updates to the XFPS Commando, it is upgradeable. Unfortunately, the price may deter some potential buyers as it is a bit high.
