    Microsoft has unveiled its next generation Xbox console at E3 2019, which is still under the long rumoured codename "Project Scarlett."
    Project Scarlett was introduced by Phil Spencer as part of a packed Xbox E3 press briefing, which showcased the company's growing strength as a first-party publisher.
    "We hear you," Spencer said. "A console should be designed and built and optimised for one thing, and one thing only: gaming."
    The new hardware was created by the same team as the one that built the Xbox One X, members of which discussed their goals in a short video. The console will be capable of 120fps frame-rates and 8K resolution, thanks to a custom AMD chip that is four times faster than the Xbox One X.
    The team also emphasised the importance of its SSD (solid-state drive), which will drastically reduce load times. It's worth noting that Sony has made similar claims about the architecture of its new PlayStation console.
    Rumours that the Xbox E3 briefing would feature new hardware started to emerge long before the event began. Twitter users noticed a message hidden in Microsoft's countdown to E3 promotional video, which when decoded pointed to the colour "Scarlet" -- Scarlett has been rumoured to be the codename for the next Xbox for almost a year.

    Today during its regular Inside Xbox event, Microsoft revealed its long-rumored digital-only version of the Xbox, officially called the Xbox One S All-Digital Edition and planned for launch on May 7.
    The Xbox One S All-Digital Edition confirmed rumors that have circulated recently of a console nearly identical to the current Xbox One S systems, including a 1TB harddrive, supporting 4K Ultra HD Video and HDR, and coming with a single wireless controller. However, per its name, it does not include the physical disc drive and cannot play physical games.

    In its patch notes for Fortnite today, Epic Games announced it was adjusting how cross-platform play pools are set up by default in the game.
    Before, the game's cross-platform capabilities put Xbox One, PS4, Nintendo Switch, iOS, and Android players all in the same matchmaking pools for games. Now, it seems Epic has opted to divvy them up to improve the game experience for those on Switch and mobile.
    Now, Xbox One and PS4 players will be grouped together by default, while Switch users will be grouped with mobile. This does not apply if players are in cross-platform parties already. Fortnite will still allow cross-platform play across all platforms for those already in parties or who accept an invite to one. So, if a Nintendo Switch user is in a party with a friend on Xbox One, they can still play together.

    Ahead of GDC, Microsoft has announced that Xbox Live services will be coming to iOS and Android.
    That includes features such as achievements, gamerscore, friend lists, family settings and Xbox Live security measures. Developers are now able to implement these into their smartphone titles.
    "If you watch what we've done, especially with Minecraft, over the past few years, we've taken Xbox Live to as many platforms as Minecraft is on as possible," says Kareem Choudhry, Microsoft CVP of Gaming Cloud. "We're uniting those communities together with a consistent, singular experience for all of those gamers.
    "We're now making that available to developers with our new mobile SDK for developers, which is available for iOS and Android. With one sign-in, iOS and Android games will have a consistent experience with fan favourite Xbox Live features such as achievements, gamerscore, hero stats, friends lists, club memberships, and even family settings -- no matter what device you're playing on.
    "All of those features will be made available to mobile game developers, whether they're looking for the entire experience that we offer in Minecraft, or Solitaire, but also standalone features like achievements or gamerscore. Xbox Trusted Identity Network supports log-in, privacy, online safety, and child accounts. All things around safety, security, and privacy that we hold near and dear."
    However, the company has nothing to report in terms of these services coming to Nintendo Switch. Microsoft was expected to announce a similar tie-up with Nintendo's machine, as detailed in a GDC talk description.

    With Sony staying out of E3 2019, Microsoft has a chance to command quite a bit of attention. And according to reports, they stand poised to do exactly that with the unveiling of not one, but two new consoles, at least one of which is in the code-named Xbox Scarlett family of devices.
    French site Jeux Video reports (via Google Translate, and corroborated by Thurrott) that at Microsoft's E3 2019 press conference, the company will unveil consoles code-named Lockhart and Anaconda.
    These devices have been reported on before. The first, Lockhart, is part of the Xbox Scarlett family of devices and is a disc-less console that will be far cheaper than the regular Xbox One - possibly around just $200. The second, the Anaconda, is a slimmer, newer version of the Xbox One X. Both consoles are still reportedly planned for release in fall of 2020 despite their imminent unveiling.
    One source told Jeux Video that Halo Infinite's launch will coincide with that of the Lockhart, though the game will also be available on Xbox One.

    With the new Xbox Games with Gold series 2019, there is a world of exciting, promising and appealing mix to enjoy. If you aren’t wondering how to win at roulette, we suggest you to go for Xbox Gold.With a wide range of free games also available, there is so much for the game aficionados in store. One thing is for sure it makes us remember the old-school skew. Some of them with gold are:

    Bloodstained: Curse of the Moon (Xbox One)

    The 8-bit visuals are mind-blowing. It has been developed by the famous Castlevania maker Koji Igarashi and his team members at Inti Creates. It has been inspired by the classic Bloodstained and can easily surpass it in all respects, especially its graphics. The game is about an antagonistic monster and will require all your tricks of the trade to slay and outcast them. You have both exciting and dangerous weapons like swords, whips and bombs to make you show your flair for gaming.

    Super Bomberman R (Xbox One)

    Inspired by Bomberman, this one aims to modernise the series. With many contemporary users and players, Super Bomberman E adds sheen to the already present multi-player explosive theme and visuals. A delightful and catchy game, it is fun to play solo or with a pal and friends along. The main highlight is the eight-player multi-player who employs all their tactics to either play local or online. All attempts are made with the available weapons and bombs to exterminate the enemy, Emperor Buggler. One can see the players frantically dropping big bombs all over which makes it quite interesting to play and watch.

    Assassin’s Creed Rogue (Xbox One, Xbox 360)

    Inspired by assassin’s creed unity and Assassin’s Creed 4: Black Flag (For all those still playing on Xbox 360 and PS3), Rogue is a newer option. Based on the exploits and misdemeanour of Shay Cormac, the gameplay is fun! The gameplay is ship-focused and reminds one of Assasin’s Creed 4. It is addictive and fast. The hard-core fans of the Assassin Series would simply love it.

    WRC 6 (Xbox One)

    This Xbox Games with gold is essentially for car lovers and racers out there! Though a bit rough and sturdy and with the knack of taking you out for real in mud and grime, it is all about speed, art and car-mania. Yes, you got it right, the art of drifting and moving around bumpy corners will keep you going and accelerating in this game. This one is for the racing fans and aficionados who love speed but equally admire control and simulation. The effects and video-graphics are quite cool and smooth.

    Star Wars Jedi Knight: (Xbox One and Xbox 360)

    This one is for those who always admired Jedi Knights and Jedi legends, the likes of Luke Skywalker. This game is cool for people who like to customise a lot in terms of the characters gender, appearance, looks and style. If you were really fond of learning the art of lightsabre( which is also customisable), this one is for you! From different colour options to chose from, its cool, sassy and addictive.The other ones that I might have missed here are Lara Croft and the Guardian of Light(Xbox One Xbox 360), Celeste (Xbox One), Never Alone (Xbox One), Far Cry 2 (Xbox One, Xbox 360).

    2. Xbox One

    On the wake of a new sunrise, the tantalising quasi-real rendition of life on the world of X-box got several additions-a whole new oeuvre of ultimate gaming process. If you aren’t busy palying games with 50 free spins thunderstruck no deposit, we are sure you are wondering what to expect from your Xbox this year?
    Let us take a look at a few of such games, slated to slay 2019 with its unparalleled creative zone.

    1. The Outer Worlds

    The idea of grandeur scribed in codes is the signature of Obsidian, the progenitors of Fallout and Fallout: New Vegas. Attuned to the profound schematics of an epic game, The Outer Worlds definitely seems to redeem the creators’ disastrous fiasco of Fallout 76 and would surely pack a punch in the foreground of console warfare.

    2. Ori and The Will of the Wisps

    A journey with harrowing all-new combat and customization options, in a psychedelic world of exotic beauty, with diabolical enemies and riddles and a path that leads to Ori’s destiny, is a modern tentacle of Arthurian romances. Ori and the Will of the Wisps will be launching on Xbox One and Windows 10 PCs in 2019, with a solid legacy of its prequel, Ori and the Blind Forest.

    3. Far Cry New Dawn

    Dark theatrics unfold in the post-apocalyptic Hope County, Montana, after a global holocaust at the end of Far Cry 5. In Far Cry New Dawn, the darkness is in the form of Highwaymen, skippered by the dangerous, delusional Twins, as they attempt to seize control, while the player dodges the gauntlet. This is due on February 15, 2019, on Xbox One and PS4.

    4. Wolfenstein: Young Blood

    Wolfenstein: Youngblood is programmed to be an out and out co-op game. Set in a megalomaniac, Nazi-oppressed alternative reality, Wolfenstein: Youngblood assures a palpable experience of inevitable horror, including liberal Nazi slaying and plenty of thrilling epiphanies.

    5. Control

    The construct of divergent reality, the protagonist is imbued with heightened abilities and carves her way through odd turns, in an apparently lethal world. The game will surely pave another causeway through the storyline of perceptible warfare in the wake of an alien invasion, by an upsurge of symbiosis between the operative and the player.

    6. Kingdom Hearts 3

    In an upcoming Xbox One and PlayStation 4 action-adventure game, famous Disney characters, Woody, BuzzLightyear, Rex and the rest of the “Toy Story” folks are shifting to the gaming realm with Kingdom Hearts 3. In Kingdom Hearts, various Disney characters and their universes are amalgamated with succinctly sketched characters of Anime.
    Alongside the cast of “Toy Story” Kingdom Hearts 3 also stars Donald Duck so that mirth would abound in simulated humour. The novel character of Sora is chalked to be the cynosure and the alter ego of the gamer. When the game launches in early 2019, it is expected that a humongous reception would grace its inception.
    Relatively, this year is propelling forward with sequences that promise a good haul in the psychosomatic zone of gaming. Xbox has opened the creative throttle. 2019 will witness a shebang of virtual portals, leading to the world of interactive wonder. ...

    Heres some interesting Xbox One exploit news :

    • Earlier today, @XVMM posted up some key info on 'getting started' on your path of enlightenment when using the 'dev mode' that is available on all Xbox One consoles, now normally this UWP is sandboxed, but thanks to the anonymous creators if this unique exploit you can now get a shell (cmd.exe) and win32 code execution on Xbox One in UWP Devkit mode.

      Normally you can only deploy "sandboxed" UWP containers with very limited access rights, hence this write-up, which is very technical, but its aim at those that want to explore more of inner workings and power of XB1 console itself, and hopefully now with this information out to public, more developers will get on-board and help expand the scene of greatness in the Xbox landscape.
      Preamble

      This is not an exploit or breakthrough of any sort. It's simply taking advantage of provided debugging features in developer mode! This is for any one who may be curious and want to reverse engineer the Xbox One. This is also mainly provided for anyone who wants to just have a go at reversing the system. There's a lot to utilize with the public features anyway.

      Prerequisites
      • Must be in developer-mode (obviously)
      • Have some form of SSH/telnet client. (PuTTy, etc)
      • At least have Visual Studio 2015 or 2017

      To get started without putting up with developing UWP applications we can instead utilize the open SSH connection provided by the console. This is only available in developer mode, just in case you get any ideas. If you're using Windows and will be using standard command prompt for telnet then make sure you enable it first!

      • Control Panel -> Programs -> Turn Windows features on or off"
      • Tick "Telnet client"
      • Done

      Howto

      • First open up whatever client you have for SSH, in this instance PuTTy, and connect using your console IP and default port. There will be a pop-up. Just hit yes.
      • Now it will ask for login details. Make sure you have Dev Home opened and hit __Show Visual Studio Pin__. Keep note of this pin but also remember it will change after a small period of time!

        Use the following credentials:
        ```
        Username: DevToolsUser
        Password: The Visual Studio pin provided in Dev Home.
        ```
      • If all goes successfully then you can either stick with it or initialize telnet. Run the following command in order to do so:

        ```
        devtoolslauncher LaunchForProfiling telnetd "cmd.exe 24"
        ```
      • Open command prompt on Windows and run:

        ```
        telnet [consoleip] 24
        # (Example: telnet 192.168.1.5 24)
        ```

      The telnet session will be running under the VSProfilingAccount privileges which is the same as what the VS debugger runs under when building UWP apps.

      Keep in mind that there is not too much of a difference at this stage. It just allows a tiny bit more flexibility.

      Basic file system exploration:

      You can do this by accessing the Xbox Device Portal on your computer and going to File Explorer tab. There will be an option near the top right that is called Browse. Using this will show you credentials that can be used to access the developer scratch. We can use the developer scratch to store our junctions to navigate throughout the mounted drives.
      Code:
      Using telnet or SSH, go to `D:\DevelopmentFiles`.
      ```
      >D:
      >cd DevelopmentFiles
      >mkdir Links
      # And run the following:
      >mklink /J "Links\System" C:\
      # If the result is successful then double check:
      >cd links\system
      >dir
      ```

      If it gives you a directory listing then there you go!

      You can get easier access by opening File Explorer on Windows and typing the following into the file path bar: `\\`

      It will prompt for login details. If you open the device portal and go to File Explorer tab then on right side hit browse; you will be given details to use. Once in then you can access most but not all volumes.

      (Refer to "Mount points" to find out more)

      Next steps

      So what now? Well, I'm going to provide a small "template" which you can use in order to write a standard "Win32" application. The only difference is that it will run on the Xbox One.

      (Requires Windows 10 SDK compatible with Xbox One and probably Visual Studio 2017, at least 2015.)

      XRF: Attached below.

      Place anywhere on the console and run `xrf cinfo` for a basic spit of console info.

      Additional information:

      Basic introduction:

      The Xbox One currently runs 3 separate operating systems with each prioritized with their own purpose.

      These are known as:

      • Host OS
      • System OS
      • Game OS

      System and Game OS both reside in their own partition:

      • Shared Resource Access - Runs apps and renders the UI experience.
      • Exclusive Resource Access - Runs games and has more priority with resources.

      These operations are stored in an Xbox Virtual Disk (XVD) with a small bootloader, currently assumed based on previous data dumps, that contains the kernel, HAL and other important system files. These get stored in the
      User Data section of each.

      • host.xvd | ExtHost.xvd
      • System.xvd
      • era.xvd

      System and Host are stored in both the flash and on the console hard drive. The Game OS XVD is stored with each packaged game that is released for the Xbox One. Although this requires another

    The Next generation of Consoles is coming and heres Microsofts answer:

    • E3 conference is underway, and after the big public Microsoft press conference, industry insiders were informed behind 'closed-doors' that 'Scarlett' is already under development as the next-gen Xbox to replace their 'One' series, and will be landing in stores by 2020!
      At Microsoft's Xbox E3 2018 event, Xbox boss Phil Spencer hinted that the company is working on its Xbox One successor. Barely a day later, it's now reported that the next Xbox is codenamed Scarlett and is due for a 2020 release date. The news comes via Xbox insider Brad Sams, he previously leaked the official name of the Xbox One S and stated that the Xbox One X would be out in 2017. He also was partially correct in revealing what the next Halo game would be called prior to Microsoft announcing it at its E3 2018 conference.

      Aside from the next Xbox codename, it appears that Scarlett is a "family of devices" which Sams speculates that "we may see multiple pieces of hardware released that year."

      Furthermore, it's unknown if Scarlett will be backwards compatible with all games available right now. But given the investment Microsoft has put into backwards compatibility, it probably would as well as be aligned with the company's streaming efforts.

      A next Xbox release date of 2020 seems close when you consider that the Xbox One X just launched barely seven months ago. Sams claims that "Microsoft is aggressively moving ahead with hardware in the console space to shake up the industry."

      At E3 2018 Phil Spencer said that the Xbox One X hardware team is "deep into architecturing the next Xbox console, where we will once again deliver on our commitment to deliver the benchmark of console gaming". Naturally, he brought up Microsoft's work in AI and cloud technologies as well as its new studios as factors that will help towards making the Xbox a success.
      Click to expand...
      So things are already heating up for another round of next-gen console wars, now that Microsoft let the cat out of bag, all eyes are on Sony if they will drop the 'codename' hint of their rumored PS5 which large studios are rumored already have early alpha-devkits.

    Over at Team Xecuter they have posted news of the release of Kodi for the Xbox One:

    We all here at MaxConsole, remember the glory days of original Xbox console modding, the main thing to install after you got it flashed or modded was a new dashboard like EvoX or AvaLaunch, and then of course right away installing XBMP with all its plugins, and now the joy of those days can be re-lived on the Xbox One console, as Microsoft surprising enough has helped the Kodi Team to port it over to UWP format and its now rolling out across the world on the Xbox One Store, with Europeans getting the first dibs!
    Kodi is a very capable player that’s highly expandable thanks to third-party add-ons like live TV and DVR services — something Microsoft isn’t going to provide. But Kodi is perhaps best known as the go to app for piracy due to a wide variety of plugins that let you illegally stream television shows, professional sports, and films from the comfort of your living room. This has led to a cottage industry of so-called "Kodi boxes," often built around cheap HDMI dongles like Amazon's Fire TV sticks. While the XBMC Foundation has attempted to distance itself from the illegal third-party plugins, it's also benefited from the exposure.
    In a blog post, Kodi warns that the Xbox One download isn’t finished and may contain missing features and bugs. Here are a few known limitations as of today:

    • There’s limited access to only part of your Video and Music folders.
    • Network support is limited to NFS:// shares.
    • There’s no access to attached storage or to the Blu-ray drive.
    • There might be problems with some add-ons.

    Kodi began life as XBMC (Xbox Media Center), or XBMP (Xbox Media Player) if you want to track back to the original incarnation that ran on hacked first-generation Xbox consoles — a capable PC with high-end graphics that Microsoft sold at a loss in order to gain an industry foothold back in the early noughts. So really, it's only fitting that Kodi should return to the roost.
