Today, we proudly present the very first modified OFW that can be installed on all PS3 models.
(NOTE: THIS IS NOT A FULL BLOWN CFW, HOWEVER IT Allows you to run the patched webkit exploit that's ported to 4.84).

Yes, you didn't hear wrong, it can be installed over ALL OFW versions on ALL PS3 models (OFW 4.83, 4.84 , CECH-3XXX, CECH-4XXX and etc.). We wanted this to be called "HHHFW" since it was Hybrid, Hack-able, HAN ready also inspired by @habib but let's call it HFW since this is Hybrid FW (Well you can call this MFW).

The idea was reminded by some guy who didn't want to be annoying but actually ended up being helpful. Habib had this idea long time ago but the previous attempt was not successful due to lack of interest and preparation. As you all know, I recently started messing with my PS3 again and this idea was brought back.

So then I went ahead and tried his magical idea.... after a few hours later... Boom!!, now we have HFW that works on all PS3 models (including 3K and 4K) that allows the previously patched exploit by using old webkit from 4.50 that's been used until 4.83. This method is rather hacky than technical, so I would like to leave this method under the radar for now until it gets patched out (this can easily be patched).

What can you do with this HFW 4.84.1/2?
1.You can use PSN since the FW is the latest.
2.You can downgrade/Install CFW on your PS3 if your model is downgrade-able/hack-able (excluding CECH-3K and 4K)
(The same capability as what you had for 4.82 OFW)
3.You can use HAN and all the tools that worked up to 4.82 with this FW.
4.You can always go back to the real OFW 4.84 if you wish.
To all scener's and developers: Please update the HAN toolbox or any xml that can support 4.84 if anyone's available.

    Special thanks @habib @bguerville @esc0rtd3w @Doge_Rules @DeViL303 @littlebalup

Sony have released firmware 4.84 for PS3. There seems to be doubt regarding what this update actually does, so going with Sandungas post over at psx-place.com on this one: 'I guess we can nickname 4.84 as 'the valentine's day' update. Changelog: Additionally to the usual system stability this update improves love. A rainbow with unicorns has been added to the theme settings.'. I have updated the Ps3OsRels wiki as usual where the updates also can be downloaded (or at least could be at one point). This time there was an incremental update (PS3PATCH.PUP). In related news, Evilnat has released our beloved mitigation for boring stability updates, namely SEN Enabler v6.2.1. There is more new console stuff to leech in the download section if you feel like it, have a good weekend, love is in the air.

Those with hacked consoles keep away:

    • Even tho, PlayStation 3 console is basically 'end-of-line', Sony is still rolling out 'support' for it, and in this case, their new v4.83 firmware is well an 'stability patch' as usual which to us Scene Ponies it really means, watch out Sony is pulling us free horses back into the stables to be retrained to be good consumers and not greedy pirates or free-range homebrew'ers, in other words: DO NOT UPDATE!
After a look at the update files & preliminary tests, I am afraid I am bearing some bad news for HAN users playing online.
      1. It would appear that s@ny patched one of the 2 webkit exploits we currently use to trigger ROP chains.
It means that we need to replace this exploit in order to get any ps3xploit tool working on 4.83. Work is already under way, obviously no ETA at this stage. Please don't ask.
      2. The kernel is completely untouched. No changes to either lv1 or lv2 which means CFWs will be easier to make. That's also good news for devs with any promising kernel vulnerability under investigation.
      3. Changes were made to vsh as usual & they seem extensive enough to suspect that they may have patched the HAN vulnerability as well. We have not yet had time to look into the matter at all but if they did, HAN might be gone for good past 4.82, leaving only CFW2OFW conversions installable & runnable on 4.83 whenever the patched webkit exploit gets replaced.

In conclusion, the changes brought by the 4.83 update mean that anyone updating will lose usage of HAN, and possibly permanently until a kernel exploit comes out. Cfw2ofw conversions will be the only installed games that will still be working after updating.

The nature of this update is upsetting our 4.0 release plans somewhat
The above notes are from the famous PS3XPLOIT team that was able to last 'xmas make softmod'ing our newer PS3's finally possible, but it looks like evil big crab is slowly catching up and now basically blocked all known loopholes, but never fear, they are hard at work digging around looking for new HAN entry points, in the meantime it can't be stressed enough: DO NOT UPDATE!

Heres another release for the PS3 Hacking scene:

Evilnat his very popular PS3 utility SEN Enabler with support for the latest CFW firmwares and updates:
    Improvements v6.0.8

    • Updated Cobra data
    • Added support for CFW Rebug 4.82 D-REX

Remember to use Charles Proxy now along with SEN Enabler and block three URLs (you can add more if you want), this software will minimize ban risk, but a ban is not 100% avoided on CFW. Block all these URLs on Charles or similar:

The awesome multi system supporting emulator has a new release, heres what systems this release is for starting with PC, Apple Mac, Android, IOS, Playstation 3, Playstation Portable, PSVita, Xbox Original, Gamecube, Wii, Wii U, Nintendo 3DS and Raspberry PI:

RetroArch 1.7.3 has just been released! Grab it here. This latest version has also been uploaded to the Google Play Store. If you’d like to show your support, consider donating to the team. Check here in order to learn more.
RetroArch now has a WIMP GUI, powered by the powerful multimedia framework Qt! This feature is available currently for Windows and Linux. macOS users will have to wait a while longer for this feature to arrive to their platform.

The WIMP GUI works as a companion to the main RetroArch window. You bring it into view by pressing the F5 key on your keyboard. From there, you can do many tasks:

    • Select a game from any playlist
    • Browse the file system or any attached media storage device and load a game.
    • Scan directories for content and generate system playlists.
    • Associate cores to an entire playlist or associate only one entry of a playlist to a specific core

Some things we’d like to note:

    • This has been the combined work of bparker and Tatsuya79 that have worked tirelessly on this for a month. We are aware of several features that we’d like to implement, such as playlist editing, grid view layouts, etc.
    • We are open to feedback on the GUI.
    • You will likely not see this WIMP GUI on Android or iOS (or any game console for that fact) anytime soon. WIMP interfaces don’t lend themselves well to devices that rely on touchscreen or gamepad-based controls.
    • (For Linux users) The Qt GUI should definitely work on X11. If you’d like to run it on Wayland, make sure you have the appropriate packages installed for Qt5 in your package manager. Be aware that Qt 5 cannot gracefully fail right now in case a platform module/plugin is missing from your system. This means that if you invoke the companion UI by pressing F5 on Wayland, and for whatever reason the platform module that Qt relies on in order to work on Wayland is not there, there is no way for RetroArch to gracefully fail there and just not show the companion UI. There will be a crash instead. Unfortunately we have talked to some Qt developers and they see no other way around this for now. The same situation applies for DRM/KMS right now. If we can find a better solution to this, we will certainly return to it.
    • (For mac Users) You will have to wait a bit longer for this to arrive to the Mac port unfortunately. Hopefully that wait is not too long.
    • We would like to still improve initial bootup times for the companion UI. Right now, on first initial startup, it can take anywhere from 5 to 10 seconds (depending on your harddrive and its performance), but on subsequent boots should only take 2 seconds or less for first startup. Hopefully by resorting to Link Time Code Generation and other avenues we can shave off some more seconds off this boot time.

Those of you with Superslim versions of the PS3 are going to like this news, basically the PS3Xploit is coming to you, heres the details from Eurasia:

The upcoming version 3 of the PS3Xploit has support for PS3 SuperSlim, in other words all consoles previously not supported by custom firmware (CFW) are covered. As you can imagine this is a pretty big deal, lots of PS3 users are waiting with high expectations, and what does that usually lead to? Leaks and drama... Anyway, as it turns out the leaked version is incomplete and buggy, also has the potential to brick consoles, so skip that one and wait for the final public release due in a few days. If you want more information, check Team PS3Xploit's warning over at psx-place.com. Sorry for the late post, but at least I kept my promise of not leaking the news prematurely. How about that? A hacker with integrity."

Heres the news a lot of you PS3 Owners have been waiting for, the previously unhackable SuperSlim PS3s may be soon hackable:

Currently, the only way to mod an PS3 SuperSlim is via ODE hardware, and its not perfect, you end up with 'disc-swapping' and 'file injection' and other issues, and the only other way is an very long time wasting 'game injection' method via your PS3 HDD and USB Backup, and you have to redo the whole long process for each new game added.

But no more, soon the world of the un-crackable PlayStation's consoles will be set free for all to enjoy on the latest official Sony v4.82 firmware, all tho there will still be some tiny quirks leftover, it will still be a ton easier to finally be able to Jailbreak the SuperSlim.
[COLOR=#141414][FONT=Lato]STLcardsWS said:[INDENT]What will this future exploit provide?

    • "Install PKG Files" unlocked on XMB (Retail / Debug PKGs,) *No PS3 Homebrew Support
    • PS1 Emulator Support
    • PS2 Emulator Support
    • PSP Emulator Support
    • PS3 Backup Support (Convert your PS3 Game to Digital PKG - npdrm* (requires game update for disc game backups to work))
    • New Resigning Tools

What you need to know about the legacy PlayStation emulators?

    • PS1 emulation is very good on the PS3, most games will play fine
    • Ps2 emulation is hit and miss on the PS3 (slightly more then half PS2 titles will work fine)
    • PsP emulation is roughly about a 40% success rate for the PS3
    • PS3 Backups - Require a Game Update

    Heres a video:
