Askot and DSBomb have worked on a new version of the Nes Emulator for Gamecube and Nintendo Wii:

What's new [20080331]

- Fixed/changed SDCARD slot selection for searching roms, at
start you will be prompted for this option.
- Code cleanup.

+[dsbomb]
- Added Wii mode support.
- Give a "Bad cartridge" error instead of locking up.
- Joystick fixes due to libogc r14's changed stick values
- Rearranged menu to make more sense, and consistent with Snes9x
- Add "Reboot" menu option
- Removed "." directory from SD card listing, it's pointless
- Expand DVD reading to DVD9 size (once DVDs are working again)
- Added option to go back a menu by pressing B.

Will this load off the front SD slot?

I was wondering if DVD reading also works with the twilight hack only. Or does it still have to be modified with a modchip?

You still have to have a modded wii.

I have this booting with the twilight hack, - on an umoddified, unmod chipped Wii - and it gets as far as the emu front menu.

Would appear, though, unless I am wrong and stand to be corrected, this still does not boot from the front SD slot....though doubtless this will be the next development - the Snes emu alredy has this ability...

Ugh, once again, the Wii gets credit for Gamecube homebrew.

Just so you know, the latest version is broken, you can't load games with it.
Use the previous (0326).

I can't load any ROMs from DVD neither with this version nor with the previous (326).
The emulators themselves boot nicely.

Is there a version of FCEU GC which has better sound?

The working one I have is truly awful in that regard.
