Rev Ball shaped ‘console’ to beat Wii?

Finnish company Ball-It has released a soft, spherical gaming device known as the Blobo. Described in promotional materials as a console, the interactive ball apparently presents a challenge to the Nintendo Wii.
The main Blobo package, costing around €50 via the official website, comes with the buttonless ball itself, and six games that use the system’s motion sensitive controls, letting players try their hand at the likes of karate and basketball. Blobo is actually a dedicated accessory used to play specifically designed PC games.
The half-dozen included games in the core package are developed by Red Lynx, the Finnish studio behind XBLA hit Trials HD and iPhone off-roader Monster Trucks Nitro.
“Expectations for Blobo’s future are high,” insisted Ball-IT CEO Juha Rytky. “We’ve already opened up important discussions with international players. During 2010 the aim is to start deliveries to large game markets such as Japan, the United States, Korea, China, Germany and Great Britain.”
Moving forward, Ball-It is planning to make numerous downloadable Blobo games and applications available via its website. BloboPool is already available, and even lets users play on their mobiles, provided that they have a Nokia S60 handset.
Ball-It is currently reporting that there are “a surprisingly high number of advanced orders”.

If the graphics looked any better than PS1 graphics, and had a good games line-up... and if it weren't so gimmicky, it'd have a better shot at competing. We don't need this crap on the store shelves...

Why do these consoles have to have such goofy little characters? One day maybe we can take our own image and merge it into the game. Now that would be fun.
