I'm assuming you're referring to the 2 MB freeware homebrew ROMS and not the illegal commercial ones that would actually benefit from the trimming for being over 20 MB.
News/release from Shortfuse:
DS-X Manager
The point of this problem is to facilitate the use of your DS-X. This allows you to trim roms (to save more space) when copying to the DS-X. It's meant to be like a syncing application, as you would use iTunes/Winamp for your MP3 player.
Supports Zip files
Asynchronous Transfers
Just download it and try it. It's less than 100KB.
Notes on colors in DS-X window.
Green = Trimmed to smallest, safest size possible
Yellow = Can be trimmed more
Red = Overtrimmed
*REQUIRES .NET FRAMEWORK 2.0

Hehehehe^^
Well one of those nice specs of the ds-xtreme just is gone
No need of extra software. But if you want to use it fully, u still need extra ones. Wouldnt it be nice to include it in your OS? So that ds-xtreme can trimm it by itself? But maybe the ds is to slow in that task.
^^
That is an extremely funny sig image.
This sounds like a useful app. Trimming ROMS and managing homebrew/ROMS would be incredibly useful.
