    Rev Nintendo reveals Wii Zapper

At the E3 press conference, Nintendo has revealed it is to release a Wii Zapper enclosure for the Wii remote. It will house both the remote and the Nunchuk in a two handed gun configuration and will be compatible with a number of titles including a new Medal of Honor game as well as Resident Evil: Umbrella Chronicles. The Zapper will be bundled with first party software and sell for a suggested retail price of $19.99.

Of course you don't "need" it, same as you don't need the steering wheel attachments, but some people like holding onto something in the shape of the object that they're supposedly emulating (a gun, steering wheel, etc.).

This strange form is so you can plug in the nunchuk and all buttons on the wiimote and nunchuk at the same time.

So while the Nintendo "zapper" is considerably uglier than all of the third party gun attachments that we've seen thus far, it's the one that offers the most versatility for game developers since none of the controllers options are limited.
