This is BS. It really is. Sony doesn't want a supposed 2 SKU strategy yet each region gets a different console. They are trying to streamline the production of units on a per region basis (phase out of 20gig, supposed phase out of 60gig) Really just give us all the same god damn systems.
Honestly, Sony should have decided to take a similar step with upcoming phase out of the 60gb. And even then why phase out the older models? Had Sony kept the 20gb around, made a 60gb, ****ed the 80 and went right for 120gb, they could have sold 3 different consoles, all priced to compete with the other consoles. For instance, now the 20gb could sell for 350 dollars, the 60 for 450 and the 120 for 550.
While the prices would be more expensive than the other consoles out there, at least consumers would have their choice. Casual gamers could see spending 350 on a console as opposed to 500-600. Hardcore gamers would definitely spend the 550 to get the best model and those in between casual and hardcore or just more affluent casual gamers could definitely spend the 450.
