The Wii aims by IR lights in the sensor bar, not by reading the screen, so a laser pointer won't help you at all.

The laser pointer is a novelty, I guess it give you a better "Aim" or something.

the laser wouldn't be pointing where the aimer would be unless you set up everything absolutely perfect.
