Are UMD films better quality than our conversions?

I think that's something only you can really answer as it is totally subjective. I would say yes, it seems better to me, but others I know however see no difference.

I've got a bit of a weakness for them,
but most aren't directed at my age group.

Probably not, but most of us wouldn't spare the memory stick space for
a movie encoded at a bitrate to consume 1.8Gb.

Umd's are generally in higher quality because most conversions are lowered in quality to allow them to be a reasonable size.

UMD movies are sooooooooo detailed and crystal clear. they're absolutely beautiful.

That being said, I would only buy those if they were 16 dollars. That seems like the magic price point for UMD movies.

And UMD video simply owns videos you've converted and put on a memory card like blu ray owns... VCD... (which sony would evcentually let us put 480p videos on mem cards, that would make mem card video the same quality as UMD)

I buy them when they are about >$4, which has happened at game stop in the past. otherwise, i use DVDs. The UMD definitely looks great on PSPs compared to MP4s, if you overlook the battery drain.

I still can't believe Sony hasn't given up on these though
