The Massive Gaming Toy Review

My friends over at Lik Sang asked if i was interested in writing an article about the range of Gaming toys/figures on their site, now for weeks ive been racking my brain trying to come up with an angle for the article and i couldnt think of one that was decent enough but then it hit me, why not involve my children who love toys anyway.

So the judges of the toys are Wraggster (aged 34), Katie (aged 13) and Jamie (aged 10), which means between us we are perfect to give our honest mini reviews/thoughts of each toy.

Introduction

With the toys below its easy to give toys you know a better score because you can relate to them, on the whole there was some excellent toys and also a few to avoid like crazy.

Heres the toys

Street Fighter Mini-Figure

Price US$ 6.95 (~3.96 GBP)

Review by Wraggster

Streetfighter 2 was probably the worlds best 2D fighting game and made the Snes the killer console it was. Relive those battle with the high quality figurines, i got M Bison. The figurine is i would say near on 10cm in height and stands on a swivel base. It doesnt have any moving parts but is excellent in its appearance and makes for the perfect collectors item. For kids of any age as it does not have any sharp bits.

Verdict 9/10 Excellent well made Collectors item.

Mega Man Figure Collection

Review by Jamie W

Megaman has spawned a mass of great games across all consoles and is as popular on the PSP as it was on the Nes. This Megaman toy comes with a base to stand it on. Moveable Hands with a sword that pushes in and can be made to swivel to many angles. The height of the figure was around 6cm. A cause for Concern was the head which did seem to come off easily. A toy which will appeal to fans of Megaman but not for others.

Verdict 6/10 One for Megaman fans only.

Metal Gear Solid 2 Mini-Figure Vol 2

Price US$ 3.95 (~2.25 GBP)

Review by Jamie W

This was a big figurine which was about 13cm in height, the toy stands on a base although it didnt fit rigidly, it has moveable hands and a sword that fits in. The figure is well made with no sharp points (apart from the sword). It also had what seems to be like tenticles that stick out the back, i tried for ages to get this together and gave up eventually although i preferred the figure without it. Metal Gear Solid fans will love to have this for their collection but it wasnt for me.

Verdict 7/10 Nice figure but annoying attachment for the back.

Dragon Quest SL Collection: Slime Mini Figures

Price US$ 0.95 (~0.54 GBP)

Review by Wraggster

Well it took me an age to find this toy, it was the smallest of the toys we have reviewed and one that anyone with youngsters should avoid, that said it was a brightly coloured toy and for fans of Dragon Quest you wont be disapointed

Verdict 5/10 Too small for my liking.

Transformers K.T Figure Collection

Price US$ 1.95 (~1.11 GBP)

Review by Wraggster

I was a massive fan of Transformers in my younger days and to be honest it would be excellent to transform my car into a Helicopter or something along those lines, or maybe transform into Brad Pitt and give Angelina Jolie some er attention :P

Anyway on with the review, i was expecting a full on transformer and what we have is a naked female figurine sitting in water next to rocks with a shark spitting water out its mouth and a mini transformer sitting on the rocks looking at her. Well the toy itself came in 5 pieces and it was easy to put together but i would say that its one for those who are fans of the transformer series only and not really for kids to play with.

Verdict 5/10 One for Diehard fans only

Mario Kart DS Racing Collection Gashapon

Price US$ 4.95 (~2.82 GBP)

Review by Wraggster

Now this takes me back to the Snes days when Mario Kart first appeared and is my favorite game ever, anyway to the review, this is a perfect replica of Mario in his Kart, the toy itself has no sharp points to hurt little ones on and is very robust.

The toy is a pull back and let it go type kart and boy is it fast, perfect for races especially if you have 2 or more.

Verdict 9.5/10 Perfect for Mario Fans :)

Nintendo History Collection: Namco Special

Price US$ 1.95 (~1.11 GBP)

Review by Wraggster

If you have followed Video Games since the days of Atari you will love these miniature consoles, when i opened the packaging i found out it was a AV Famicom and it came with 2 plugable mini joypads and even a miniature games box with a cartridge inside. The game box had some Horse Racing title on. The Joypads fitted perfectly into the Console and even the cartridge clicked into place. Retro fans will love this range :)

Verdict 9/10 Relive the good old days with these excellent replica mini consoles

Pokemon A.G. Waza Machine Collection

US$ 0.49 (~0.28 GBP)

Review by Wraggster

Pokemon the cute Games and Cartoon show charactars that has millions of fans around the world, the toy comes in its very own Pokeball, so just like the Cartoon you could have a load of them and prepare to unleash your Pokemon in a duel. The Pokeball itself is a little hard to get open so parents may need to losen the balls a bit, inside you get a 4cm high Pokemon, i got RyChu (dont blame me if i spelt it wrong). Not really suitable for under 3 year olds but perfect for any above that age, buy 4 or more and have the Poke Battle in your own house :)

Verdict 8/10 Great for Pokemon Battles

Mario Vs Donkey Kong Capsule Toys

Price US$ 3.95 (~2.25 GBP)

Review by Wraggster

Here Comes Mario with his hammer ready to kick some Donkey Kong booty, this Mario toy is under 8cm in height and he carrys a massive wooden mallet (think hammer), the hammer can be used in either hand, the legs and head move and swivel round. Maybe not one for younger kids but i couldnt pull it apart so a big thumbs up there. Get 2 or more of these for some great Mario Fighting action or use it as a paper weight :)

Verdict 8/10 Another great one for Mario Fans

Naruto Candy Toy Figure Collection

US$ 1.95 (~1.11 GBP)

Review by Katie W

Naruto is a good and simple figurine.Although it may be simple it is appealing too.The coulours stand out and with the silver stand it makes it look really effective. I would defientely reccomend this item to both younger children and collectors as their are good uses for this figurinel. The size is good but maybe it could have been a bit bigger. Also if a few more features were added the item would be more appealng.

Verdict 7/10 Small but well made

Dead or Alive Ultimate Costume Variation Capsule Toy

Price US$ 2.95 (~1.68 GBP)

Review by Katie W

This toy is a good product and is a enjoyable toy.Although Unfortunetly i found this quite a hard toy to put together as i didnt know where the pieces go.Children aged than nine and younger would find good use for this toy. This could have been improved by a instructions piece and a few more pieces to go with the toy. The size is good but maybe could have been a bit bigger than 10 cms. The characteristics make the toy look exactly what its character does.

Verdict 8/10 Dead or Alive Heaven for fans

Virtual On One Coin Figure

Price US$ 2.95 (~1.68 GBP)

Review by Jamie W

This toy looks like similiar to the transformer toys but doesnt transform, it has a jetpack, a lazer gun, moveable legs, arms, head, feet and hands, the height is close to 10cm. the toy comes already made so i needed only to put the gun on him. There are no sharp bits and its great for robot battles

Verdict 8/10 Great toy especially for robot battles..

King of Fighters Kubrick Minifigures

Price US$ 0.95 (~0.54 GBP)

Review by Wraggster

This is a small toy thats perfect for sitting on the top of a Pencil or Pen as it has a hole in the bottom. Its a one piece toy with no sharp edges and stands 4cm high at most, Another toy to keep away from the young kiddies though

Verdict 7/10 Perfect for sitting astride Pencils/Pens at School or Work

Biohazard 4 Candy Toy

Price US$ 4.95 (~2.82 GBP)

Review by Katie W

This toy is good as a figurine. It was a simple toy to put together and the characteristics are good and looks a replica of the intended model. I think for young children and for figurine collectors this would be a good product to have. The size is perfect for its use..Also the way this product has been made makes the figurine effective and makes younger children drawn to it. To improve i would reccomend adding a few more intresting features to this item as to make it more enjoyable.

Verdict 7/10 Bloody battles ahead

Final Fantasy Creatures Archive: Chromium

Price US$ 2.95 (~1.68 GBP)

Review by Wraggster

Im not really a fan of Final Fantasy but ill give this toy the once over. The toy came in 5 pieces and 2 were small so keep away from the little ones, the Giant Crab assembled easy enough and you did get some basic instructions on how to put it together. Ill be honest and say that this toy didnt interest me at all and it came apart too easily, the end product didnt impress at all. Only for Diehard Fans

Verdict 4/10 Didnt like it at all
