well the psp pretty much can handle N64 and it only has 333 mhz and the GP2X has 400mhz.

The Gp2X wont be able to handle N64 emualtion. Mainly due because the PSP has a MIPs processor and the GP2X has an ARM dual core. The PSP processor is very similar to the N64 which is why it could be possible for emulation. It has no chance on the GP2X.

However, feel free to prove me wrong someone :)

I don't know... A few monthes back everyone thought a N64 emu on the psp wasn't possible. Now it is but ya that is one of the main reasons it can be done on the psp.

hahaha Gp2x users PSP is soon going to play n64 emulation were gp2x won't go beyond super nintendo But I will ad mit one thing I do envy your playstation emulator that your consul has.

True, and we still have a decent Mame and Neo Geo AES emulation as well. TV out ? Got that too. Support for various codec such as DivX and Xvid without need for re-encoding? Yep. A decent screen that doesn't blur like hell? We seem to have that as well. And far more to come.

The main strength of the GP2X is that it is FREELY expansive both in software and hardware and the Linux kernal is helping a lot in that respect. Also there is a strong and friendly development community behind this.

It has been discussed in depth with various developers and the general consentus (sp?) is that it isn't possible and would be pointless to try. The PSP is in a far better position.

So basicaly they both are great in there own way. I luck out even tho i'm found of PS1 i am especialy found of the N64 and if i had to choose only one to have on the psp it would be the N64. Hopefully in time we will have a homebrew PS1 emu not the one sony's making and will only play some games and need to rebuy the ones i have.

If gp2x can play Psone emulators it can play N64 emulators

Well the GP2X is more powerfull so maibe if somebody rights the src from scratch it will work.

A full speed n64 emulator on the GP2X is NOT possible. No 3D chip, the CPU and architecture is completely different. These were the ONLY reasons why it is possible on the PSP. The N64 had MUCH better hardware then the PS1.

If the PSP can emulate N64 I think Playstation is very possible. I just hope the new Playstation emulator is real and not fake.

Wrong forum. This is for the GP2X and XGP.

gp2x is powerful enough to emulate n64 at a slow speed, n64 was only about 5 times more powerful than ps1 if you think about it

Eh... riiiight. The PSOne has less processing power and is a 32 bit system. The N64 is a (you guessed it) 64 bit system. That right there can tell you that they are very far apart. Plus the N64 is harder to emulate. I have an AMD Athlon 2400+ and an Nvidia Geforce 5500. I have VERY little problem running PSone games and it's always in the sound (I have a crappy sound card). I ALWAYS have problems with various N64 games. One of the reasons for that could be the fact that N64 games are cartridges, so they can add chips if they need them (Kinda like the super nintendo did), so it's harder to emulate that. The PSone was stuck the way it was, so the games were more uniform, thus easier to emulate. There's a huge list of reasons why the PSone is easier to emulate than the N64... >>

Not. Possible. Ever.

THe N64 had higher power, More Ram, and...."Shock"....it had a 3D processor. The GP2x does NOT have dedicated 3D hardware, therefore even if it had a 600MHZ CPU, it could not emulate the N64. Ever try running an N64 emulator on a Pentium 1, without a video card? Do that, then come back here and tell me again you think that its possible
