Ehh.. hard to answere your question.
As far as I know, all Neo Geo emulators on GP2X that are currently avalable suck. There's no sound or bad sound. Most games are unplayable, and the screenshots you see on the net are either lies or they only work for ppl who made these emulators. Also the neo geo emulator avalable now is the one for neo geo CD. The roms you have on your PC will not work. The emulator that will run your roms exists. but it's in very early stage of development and it is hard to run and even if u run it, you'll be dissapointed.
I'm sorry but you'll have to wait some time before you'll be able to play neo geo games at good speed with sound on GP2X.

Stop posting crap about new and improved gp2x! Its only a revamp on the design of the hardwares case and etc. It wont be faster or anything special! Its purely on the software in which why games are still slow. You gotta give developers time to work on them. Most of them dont ask for a dime and still work on them. In due time we will get games that run decently but until then we just gotta wait. Besides they are going alot faster then the psp progress of emulation.

revamp on the design hardware case etc=IMPROVEMENT!!! plus they said theyd fix the software coz it was really jacked up upon initial release and if thats so, then there were probably difficulties with how the software acted with the provided hardware, thus preventing high memory applications from running at optimal capacity...you get the picture. the point is that the first release wasn't up to par with what gamepark holdings said it would be, and this next release should have shortened the gap, and that in itself is an IMPROVEMENT!!!
have a nice day!

The only revamp at most is going to be the joystick cap which *should* be available to buy separately. The software [read: firmware] has already been updated a few times and many users have already flashed their handhelds to the latest version (1.2.1) with 1.3 (hopefully with source) being released this/next week.
Please don't exaggerate such a minor change.

It isn't bad, I had a small shot at playing it with Samurai Shodowns. No sound at 200mhz I got around 15fps, with sound it dropped to 9fps. This was with the version prior to the current latest.

I just used my standard Neo Geo Mame roms at the moment. Since they are already Zip files, compressing them further would have been useless anyway.
With the latest version, I can get 25 fp-45fp with sound running at 266mhz on Samurai Shodown.

interesting, what about Garou:MOTW?
and also....i dont have the gp2x so to me seems a little tricky...
When you talk about XXXMhz...do you have to set the MHz of the console? Doesnt it run at a default speed? how do you overclock it?

Overclocking can be done in an external program. 200Mhz is its default speed.
Havent tried Garou. Best check the Wiki for that:
