OK, i dont often ask questions but does anyone know if it is possible to put a faster speed blu ray drive into your ps3? ie a 4x speed drive. Also if it IS possible, will it have the desired effect on increasing load times and improving streaming? Hope someone can shed some light on this:confused:

hypothetically, i figure if he's willing to open up and put a new drive in, he's probably willing to make the necessary case mods if its not the same type of load

I'm gonna say there is a 99% chance that it won't work. Its not like sony just a blu-ray rom drive and stuck in the ps3. They have drives that are specially made just for the ps3, other drives will not work.

the ps3 bluray drive looks like it has a custom interface (or IDE - but that's slow)

it's probably 2 speed for the reason, movies don't need any faster.
