a new idea for USB support, could it work?

In my research for trying to figure out how to get some kind of USB support for the GP2X, I came across a certain kind of USB technology called OTG (On The Go). Basically an external hard drive with USB OTG support can connect to printers, scanners, and other such peripherals as a USB host, without a computer inbetween.

So, if you can get the same effect on a GP2X as any other USB peripheral, then you can use the hard drive's own interface to swap files from the GP2X's onboard SD card (so, you couldn't, say, play a full-length DVD-movie on the GP2X, unless you compressed it to fit on an SD card anyway). Also, you might not have to write custom firmware for it. As for WiFi connection, I don't believe they'll have OTG support for it.

As I don't yet even have a GP2X, can somebody else possibly look into this? I hope it helps somehow.
