I apologize if this is the wrong forum in advance.
I've had my GP2X for a few weeks now, and I've stumbled across some things that are annoying, that could probably be added through firmware for the benefit to the community as a whole.
1. Concerning selections from the main menu (Video, Games, Photo, etc), I have a hard time comprehending (after all of the warnings that I've read) why (or how, due to it being read only by new firmware, iirc) a user must choose between the SD Card and the NAND memory everytime they make a selection. I'm not sure of other GP2X users, but I certainly dont plan on accessing anything from the NAND memory using the main menu options. It would be great if a configuration was made so that choosing Video, Games, Music, Photo, and E-Book would take you directly to the contents of the SD card.
2. Concerning the selections from the main menu once again, it would be nice if every selection (after choosing SD) wouldnt go to the / of the SD card. Making it configurable for each icon (Video, Games, etc) to be linked to a specific path on your sd card (/Video, /Games, etc) would be a nice touch. For instance, when I choose to play Videos, I dont plan on accessing games in my /Games directory, and I assume that other GP2X users wouldnt either.
3. Concering the Music player, I really love the "turn screen off" (via Select button) feature, and I'd like to see it integrated into the system as a whole. While playing games or video, I'll often pause and walk away which causes drain on the battery. With the option of turning the screen off by a special button combination (R+L+Joystick, possibly?), we could turn the screen off at a moment's notice to conserve battery power.
4. I've noticed that the GP2X unit doesn't have a "Hold" button, I think it could be a nice addition through a special button combination (R+L+Start or what-have-you).
5. The file manager could be so much more powerful. I noticed in the 1.4 Firmware release, a lot of utility was brought to it, and I was happy to see that added. However, running executables directly from it could be a plus as well. For instance, linking ".avi" to the Video Player, linking ".gpe" to the Game player, etc. This way you could test games (etc) after moving or copyign them to new directories to see if you have the right case or links to the correct path (just one example).
Thanks for reading.

I agree. The only use I see for NAND is software patches. I certainly won't be installing games / mp3's

I agree again. my mp3's are in /mp3 my video is in /video so thats where it should go by default (user configurable of course

Not something I would use personally, but yes it would be a good idea.

Again not someting I am too bothered about, but yes a good idea

Yes, we are all used to this sort of thing on our computer OS's and seen as this is basically a handheld computer, this would be a logical way to go.
