you think they would make an n64 emulator by now for the Gp2x no offense the PSP crushes this system in my opinion. Not to mention that does not seem gaming friendly to me control wise. Its fat and bulky, the controls don't please me at all, and the screen isn't that great iether. One thing i did see that i liked though was it had TV Out support.

The GP2X wiki states that an n64 emulator would be impossible. In fact, I think all 32bit+ graphic games are out of the question.
And yes, the GP2X is not marketed towards normal gamers like the PSP or DS, it's marketed to retro gamers, port-players, and general Linux-type people who like to play around with technology.

partially due to the fact that the n64 controller is horded with a million buttons and joysticks...

partially due to the fact that the n64 controller is horded with a million buttons and joysticks...
i thought about that problem, but you could always have a few different control schemes, such as Super Smash bros, all the C-buttons do the same thing, D-pad isnt used.....well anyway i would love to see an N64 emu on the GP2X, it would be another thing for me to look forward to, but can someone answer this?, if the PS1 is being emulated, why cant the N64 (besides the button thing) i dont know much about N64 and PS1's specs, could someone please fill me in? :)

N64 on the GP2X. Not going to happen. Period. The N64 was a lot more powerful 3D wise as well as containg custom chip sets.

Then why is Mame so much better for the gp2x then the psp. Not bashing i love both.

They used an older version of Mame (0.34) and slowly moving up the ladder. It also has more development and more RAM (which shouldn't be an issue since this ran on the GP32 with 8mb RAM).

everyone said snes on the saturn and n64 on the psp would be impossible. well. look who showed them huh? yes it's perfectly possible for n64 on the gp2x more possible than it is on the psp honestly. the controls are fine to me and i'm a retro gaming enthusiast that only wanted it for. well retro gaming movies and just to test out code on.

Saturn is impossible to get running at a playable speed on any handheld. PERIOD.
N64 is only possible on the PSP due to the similarities of the architectures.
It is NOT possible on the GP2X for these reasons in addition to the fact that it has no FPU and no 3D accelerator.

the gp2x has a secondary processor. they could off the load of glide emulation onto the second one and use the first one freed up for othe things. it is perfectly possible never say it isn't.

The second core is hampered by the fact it doesn't have a seperate MMU.
Even offloading a 3d emulation chip onto the second core regardless of the fact that there is no FPU, 3D chip and no MMU, that still leaves trying to emulate the video sound and a 96mhz main processors on a 200mhz ARM chip.

Saying something is impossible doesnt mean its impossible.
Usually its possible but it lacks stuff
I doubt it would ever run @ full speed on a Gp2x but it would run..
