The first commercial game demo of Vektar is available here, you can also preorder the game - it comes with a replacment GP2X joystick cap too. If you just want a replacement cap go here.
Another commercial demo will be available next week.
From Asteroids to Tempest2000 Vektar catches that old school style of gaming and relaunches it with modern graphics and sound in the palm of your hand. The visual style looks truely awesome on the GP2X screen and the control method fits the console perfectly. You will love it. Demo or buy the full game.
Game Features:
30 levels set over 5 Zones
6 Boss levels.
Licenced high quality sound track
Retro vector style graphics given a next gen touch.
A whole load of bad guys, bosses, power ups, level designs & secret levels.
Auto saves after each zone is completed and short levels so you can quickly play wherever you are.
Uses both CPUs and 65,536 colours.
Auto save high score system.
True next gen quality on the GP2X.
Works with any firmware version.
Available boxed on SD card, includes free replacement GP2X cap designed for superior control.
Vektar will be shipping from around the 18th of May 2006 on SD card.

Nice graphics, but I don't like the control scheme. Even with the cap it's expensive, and frankly I think I'd prefer to play noiz2sa.

So what advantages are there in paying for this game when we got Vektar before as a free download? The game looks the same - surely there has to be more to paying £19.99 than having it "boxed"? What game enhancements, worth paying for, are there?

It is not a rip off of geometry wars - the author never played that game - it looks similar, but they both play quite differently.
