Our friends over at 1Emulation have posted what is most likely the best GP2X review so far and is detailed beyond belief covering all aspects of the GP2X.
Check out the excellent review Here (http://www.1emulation.com/forums/index.php?automodule=gp2xreview)

I'm sorry but that is not a very good review. How in the world could he say that GnGeo2x is bad? Also he said mame was bad as well. The nintendo emulator he used wasn't even the best nes emulator available. He should've done a little more research. 3 hours to test a usb cable?

If fishy isn't the best then what is, because when I downloaded it it was way better than the other nes Emu.

I had been planning to buy one of these until I read this review. My biggest concern is the poor quality of the buttons as stated in the review. I know that my kids are going to want a chance to mash the buttons on it and, from what I read in the review, it just won't hold up.
Anyone care to dispute that?
Also, assuming that the Mark II is a quality upgrade from the Mark I, is there an expectation that a Mark III will be arriving in the future? Maybe I should just wait a bit before buying one.
Any thoughts?

Fishynes is really good but I found GPFCE to run better.
@Rasputin: I find the buttons to be fine. I have more of a problem with my psp buttons than I do my GP2X buttons. Some of my psp buttons are already sticking. As for there being a MkIII I doubt it. GPH is mostly fixing things with their firmware updates now, but who knows.

Yeah, I agree. GPFCE is pretty damn good and doesn't have the compatibility problems the "review" wrote.

What a bunch of crap.
Neo Geo Emulation not good enough? PSP and DS are better. Dude WTF?
Neo Geo absolutely rocks on GP2X. It is the only portable console that can play ALL AES/MVS Neo Geo games at fullspeed. PSP just can't with it's limited 32meg of ram. Yes, you do have to overclock to 266 but you have to overclock with the PSP as well!
I'm not knockin the PSP, it's has it's good and bad points too.
The reviewer obviously missed the point that the GP2X is not a plug and play system. You have to fiddle around with the emulators a bit to get the top performance. He obviously tried everything once and determined that it was crap, instead of reading up about it on gp32x.com and updating the emulators and so on. It would have taken him a good month to go over everything in depth but there is a difference in expectations between a new GP2X User (Going WTF. Why doesn't this work?) and an experienced GP2X user (The new emu came out withthe MMU hack, damn that's a 20fps increase!) is obvious.
He should have done his research and taken some mroe time to get everything working properly before the final judgement.
Anyhow, freaking 60fps in Samurai Showdown 5 Special with UniBios hacked full fatalities and blood says my GP2X kicks ass.

I think the big downpoint about the GP2X is the SNES emulation.
It is pretty rubbish to be honest.
I have just got one and am wondering what exactly it can do more than my trusty GP32.
Pretty dissapointed to be honest.

Play DivX and Xvid movies without the need of reencoding.
Play Neo Geo MVS at full speed.
Run a mini desktop enviroment (GPE).
USB host/ Breakout board connectivity.
Higher Developer support thanks to the Linux kernal and decent SDL support.
TV-out.
Not quite worth an upgrade to some people who used to have a GP32.
SNES emulation is in the works with rumours of Squidge's SE version which sounding promising with his WIP messages.
