[a question about modding my 360]

I have a question about modding my 360. If i mod my 360 (via dvd player without a modchip) is it possible then t play on live? Because a friend of mine is willing to do it but i have heard nothing about banning people from xbox live with modded xbox 360 (done without a chip).

And is there something else i should know about this.

As far as I am aware if your caught cheating, hacking or modding on Xbox Live they will ban you.

You will get band if any modding is detected.
