My firmware is currently at 2.0 on a Japanese console. Am I OK to upgrade using the Wi-Fi connection even though I'm in the UK?

Don't worry, Firmware Updates are not decided by country, but by console :D

(I'm not sure of this, but it's highly probable!)

Nintendo would never make something that would brick if you just move :)
