Ok do I have to use the Datels (I think) PS3 headset or can I use any bluetooth headset as I can get hold of a bluetooth headset on the cheap

any bluetooth or USB headset should work fine.

Correction: any Bluetooth 2.0 compliant headset will work fine. However, 1.0 Bluetooths will not be recognized.
