awesome !!!!!!!! thanks for update
News via PSPita
The unknown coder Japanese who is developing the PCE for PSP, has just released a new version of his PC Engine emulator for the PSP that it makes an excellent alternative to PSPHugo, another emulator of the same platform designed by the famous ZX-81. The usual changelog in Japanese unfortunately does not let us know what improvements does this release and so that remains is to personally test the program and compare it with previous versions.

B2K24 - what's the difference between the three eboots contained within this release?
I don't know exactly but I'm assuming the 082a5 is for general use. The DG5 and EC5 are possibly debug build or some tests/unstable it's really hard to say.
I'm a big fan of this emulator, but I'm not even sure the changes from alpha to alpha or the differences between all those EBOOTS to be honest.
Even the readme's in zip say 070 and 081 so i imagine info is quite scarce on the subject.
If anyone has so english source of information I would be interested in a good read.
Thanks B2K24.
I played around with it B2k24, and is it just me or does HUGO emulator from Zx-81 runs whole lotta fast?
Too bad that some games crash on it...
Jinx1337, imo the HUGO emulator is only good for hue card games and not PCE-CD images.
PCE supports MP3 encoded at 320 kbps so games really sound awesome when using high quality headphones.
Although HUGO is more stable I prefer a more accurate emulation which PCEP exceeds at.
Keep in mind when you have ISO/WAV you can use software called TOC Fixer to make sure image is 100% correct.
TurboRip is good software as well.
here is some instructions someone posted that helped me get this running

Due to close accuracy to the actual system, it can now be said that this is the best PCE/Turbografix 16 Emulator for the PSP at the moment. Just don't bother using the smaller size EBOOT.PBP inside the folder called 081bDG1...that looks like a Developer build and has some bugs.
First, you need Bios files for this emulator, they are two:
- CD-ROM_System_V2.00_(J).pce
- Super_CD-ROM2_System_V3.00_(J).pce (Runs CD games (.ISO) through .TOC file format)
Secondly, if you want to run CD games you set them up like this: (I'll use Castlevania DraculaX as an example)
- I made a Folder for this game called Dracula _X (J) inside the Emulator...but you can call it whatever you'd like.
- Inside Dracula _X (J) folder you will have the following Music .MP3 files, Game .ISO files, and Game .TOC file:
- 01.mp3
- 02.iso
- 04.mp3
- 05.mp3
- 06.mp3
- 07.mp3
- 08.mp3
- 09.mp3
- 10.mp3
- 11.mp3
- 12.mp3
- 13.mp3
- 14.mp3
- 15.mp3
- 16.mp3
- 17.mp3
- 18.mp3
- 19.mp3
- 20.mp3
- 21.mp3
- 22.iso
- dracx.toc
TOC should look like this when opened with notepad
Track 01 Audio 00:02:00 LBA=000000
Track 02 Data 00:53:65 LBA=003890
Track 03 Audio 03:11:14 LBA=014189
Track 04 Audio 04:57:48 LBA=022173
Track 05 Audio 06:00:67 LBA=026917
Track 06 Audio 07:37:09 LBA=034134
Track 07 Audio 09:00:61 LBA=040411
Track 08 Audio 10:05:35 LBA=045260
Track 09 Audio 13:03:60 LBA=058635
Track 10 Audio 14:47:28 LBA=066403
Track 11 Audio 17:28:05 LBA=078455
Track 12 Audio 19:09:58 LBA=086083
Track 13 Audio 21:40:18 LBA=097368
Track 14 Audio 24:07:69 LBA=108444
Track 15 Audio 27:47:51 LBA=124926
Track 16 Audio 30:13:10 LBA=135835
Track 17 Audio 33:28:56 LBA=150506
Track 18 Audio 34:58:29 LBA=157229
Track 19 Audio 36:40:49 LBA=164899
Track 20 Audio 38:40:50 LBA=173900
Track 21 Audio 42:42:12 LBA=192012
Track 22 Data 46:58:62 LBA=211262
- The First time you start up the emulator you will first run the bios file of your choice, in this case it's Super_CD-ROM2_System_V3.00_(J).pce
- you will see a message that says cd toc read error, but don't despair, just hit X button.
- Now you will see the main console menu.
- Hit L trigger to go to the emulator menu.
- Before you do anything else, make sure you change the PSP Clock speed to 333Mhz or the games will play ubber-slow.
- Next, Highlight cd change and press O button.
- Now go inside the Dracula_X (J) directory and run DRACX.TOC.
- You are now able to exit the emulator menu and begin playing your game.
Things to keep in mind for mp3's to work:
- if your game does not have a valid .TOC file, then mp3 will not work.
- Mp3 files must follow these credentials:
- Bit Rate of 320kbps now supported
- Channels 2(stereo)
- Audio Sample Rate of 44kHz
Thank you B2K4, I already knew what you posted; I appreciate it nevertheless - could help some people to get interested in PCE.
What are some interesting PCE games that I should try?
So far I've played XAK3.
I've not updated my version of PCE for ages now (I guess a couple years ago? lol). Drack X and R-type CD allways seemed pretty perfect on the old build to me but I guess maybe its time to update? Is there a new GUI or anything on these builds??
Its nice to see an emu (well one that I'm interested in) being updated still on the psp too.
R-Type complete CD version (THE best version on r-type on a console with extra fmv cutscenes, cd sound etc), Bonk Series, Fighting Street (The best home conversion of Street Fighter 1), Pomping World/Buster Brothers/Pang CD, Gate of Thunder & Lords/Winds of Thunder, Alien/Devil Crush, Pacland, Bomberman, Blazing lazers, Parasol Stars...
Theres quite a few goodies out there.![]()
