Yeah that sounds right to me, give it a go and post back if you have any problems.

Edit: Uploaded a pic of my SD card if it helps, and added a video on youtube which briefly shows loading the rom once you've got the emulator loaded:

Hey vicious, do you have a few minutes you could maybe help me figure out what's going on with my gamecube memory card? I've tried playing a rom and saving the sram but it doesn't seem to work. It says __ bytes save succesfully and ___ bytes loaded succesfully (the number in the blank depends on the game i try to save), but it never actually loads the save file because it never shows up in game. When I look at the saves on the memory card with the save data manager on my wii, it shows one file for each game i've tried saving that takes up 1 block and the file name is all y's. Seems like it is saving corrupted. It's a 128mb nyko card.

Do you think there is any way to fix that?

I seen you posted about that on tehskeen. I'm not sure why that happens. Someone else had a problem with their card on Slot A and it worked fine on Slot B. Maybe try that?

Your could probably try formatting your card, might help.
