The iPhone 6 is set to be unveiled on September 9th, and a queue has already started forming outside NYC's flagship Apple store.
Two people were so desperate to be first in line that they have paid $2,500 to another pair in order to swap places and secure the top spot.
Brian Ceballo and Joseph Cruz from US electronic reseller and pre-owned specialist BuyBackWorld were originally first in line, but sold their places to Jason and Moon Ray for $1,250 each. The Rays are promoting a VideoMedicine iPhone app that allows patients to Skype with doctors, reports CNBC.
It's the fifth year Ceballo has waited in line with Cruz, and he reckons he's made $7,000 waiting for Apple launches, as well as substantially growing his social media following.
New reports also suggest that rock band U2 will have some involvement in the iPhone 6 press event and launch next week.
Music Promotor Stephen Browne has leaked a photo which allegedly shows the band shooting a video for the event.
It is thought that the iPhone 6 might come pre-loaded with U2’s new album.
There has been speculation that a two-story structure that has been recently built outside the Flint Center - the September 9th event site - may be a stage for the band.
Apple’s iPhone 6 is rumoured to come with a 4.7-inch display, 10MP camera, NFC connectivity and humidity, pressure and temperature sensors.
Elsewhere in the news today, mobile accessory etailer Mobile Fun has unveiled what it claims are the first genuine leather iPhone 6 cases. The firm has also revealed that there will be two devices released on September 9th - the iPhone 6 and the iPhone 6L.
