Virtual reality will have as big an impact on video games as motion controls, says GAME
The statement follows last week’s GDC, which was filled with VR products including Sony’s Project Morpheus and Valve’s Vive headset.
“VR is the next big thing in the industry and as much of a game-changer as the Wii and Kinect were,” said GAME UK category director Charlotte Knight.
“VR offers limitless potential; developers can build immersive experiences that have never been possible before.”
GAME isn’t the only UK retailer expecting huge success from VR.
“VR is, on paper, a potentially game-changing innovation,” said Games Centre MD Robert Lindsay. “I’m excited to see how developers utilise the tech to expand the immersive element of games
and tell stories from a different perspective – literally.”

ShopTo senior buyer Alison Fraser added: “There is no denying that VR will be a big part of gaming. It has the potential to stay long-term, but that will be the big test of the technology – and depends on how streamlined they can make the tech over the next few years.”
