Pastor Creflo Dollar, an American TV religious evangelist, has accused Pokemon of encouraging children to become gay.
Dollar, according to Wikipedia, is the founder of Georgia’s non-denominational World Changers Church International. As spotted by GamePolitics, the finger was pointed at the Pokemon franchise in a report from French site Christian News.
He believes that the homosexuality of many who were teenagers between the mid ‘80s and throughout the ‘90s was directly caused by Pokemon, which he alleges contains many deliberately hidden messages, cunningly spread throughout its content, that are designed specifically “to pervert adolescents”.
“Many clues are noticeable in the cartoon, starting with the relationship between Ash, the hero, and Brock, his companion whose platonic love relationship is clear,” Dollar reckons. “Pokemon names, in all languages, aims to guide young people towards the choice of homosexuality.
“This is the case of Bulbasaur, female breast representation attached to odd word to cast doubt on the natural attraction of man to the forms of the female body. Many Pokemon have a phallic appearance to push teenagers to enjoy this type of shapes.
“The Pokemon named Charmander never stop caressing his tail in all his appearances. The 151st Pokemon Mew is the perfect representation of the alleged third sex.”
The Pastor’s belief is undermined somewhat by the first comment on the Christian News’ piece, which states: “I watched Pokemon. I'm not gay.” Another commentator pleasingly observes that the piece “is a bunch of malarkey” while another accuses him of being “a homophobic cretin who sees every other guy in the world as gay”.
Dollar’s theory is also undermined, of course, by the fact that it is entirely mental. And that Pokemon didn’t come out until 1996. And that Brock is as butch as ****.
