Valve made more than $730m in revenue from Steam and its own games in 2014, according to a report.
Market data firm SuperData provided with estimated revenues for both Valve’s digital marketplace and its top three games DOTA 2, Team Fortress 2 and Counter-Strike Global Offensive. Those titles were said to have brought in over $400m in revenue for the company.
It was also estimated that total 2014 revenues for Steam reached $1.5bn. As Valve takes a 30 per cent cut of each sale, and taking out money from Valve's own games, the company’s royalties from third-party titles were calculated at roughly $330m.
