Having only arrived last week, Windows 10 is already on the brink of overtaking the most recent version of Apple’s OSX among Steam users.
The latest Steam Hardware Survey for July shows that Windows 10 is currently used by 2.3 per cent of those who agreed to take part (which by and large is an automated process). Of that number, 2.21 per cent used the 64-bit version of the software and 0.9 per cent the 32-bit version.
This compares to a total of 2.32 per cent of participants who use the latest version of OSX, 10.10. The entire OSX userbase accounts for a total of just 3.23 per cent, meaning Windows 10 is sure to overtake it in the August results.
Linux, meanwhile, languishes behind with just 0.89 per cent.
Windows’ overall share stands at 95.79 per cent. Windows 7 64-bit remains the most popular individual OS with 44.91 per cent.
Nvidia remains the boss of the GPU rankings, claiming 52.47 per cent of the Steam market compared to AMD’s 27.34 per cent. Intel dominates the CPU charts with 75.3 per cent share.
It was announced yesterday that Windows 10 has already been installed by some 14m users worldwide.
