PlayStation VR is out in the first half of 2016, and according to Sony CEO Kaz Hirai, there should be a large selection of games to play on the tech.
Speaking to the BBC at CES, Hirai said that ‘probably about 100 or more’ VR titles are being made for the virtual reality headset.
In addition, the exec revealed that 200 developers are signed up to work on PlayStation VR.
This will surely ease the concerns of UK games retailers. During MCV’s Annual Retail Survey, 55 per cent of store managers said they thought VR would not take off this year. Many said the keys to it being a sucess would be a large line-up of games and experiences, as well as on point marketing.
When pressed by the BBC on whether people outside of video games will be interested in VR, Hirai responded: "With the install base of the PlayStation4 now close to 36m units, that there in of itself is a huge audience we're going to cater to.
“And once we have a lot of people who are really into virtual reality through games I think then we'll be able to expand beyond gaming, especially because we have a lot of content that we create ourselves at Sony Pictures Entertainment."
