Games sold over Steam generated over $3.5bn last year, according to analytics site Steam Spy.
The outlet – run by one Sergey Galyonkin – claims that 3,000 new games were released on the platform (up from 1,900 in 2014), and the number of concurrent users reached a whopping 12 million people.
That figure of $3.5bn is also purely game sales and does not include revenue from free-to-play titles or any downloadable content for games.
As well as some impressive topline figures, Galyonkin goes into some detail about how 2015 was for Steam.
Unsurprisingly, December was the biggest month for Steam in no short part thanks to the Winter Sale. $436,138,345 was generated in revenue for that month.
The second best month in 2015 was April, due to the launch of the long-awaited PC SKU of Grand Theft Auto V. $411,360,280 was generated in that month.
Rockstar’s crime title and Fallout 4 were the biggest titles of the year in terms of the year in terms of sales and revenue.
