Intellivision Entertainment has this week announced the Intellivision Amico, inspired by the original 1979 console.
Joining Sony, Sega, and Nintendo in the retro hardware space, Intellivision Entertainment has reclaimed the formerly defunct brand in order to produce a modernised version of the classic console.
The Amico intends to capture the family market, offering a range of re-imagined and remade retro console games from Intellivision, Atari, and Imagic.
It will also include a host of classic titles such as Toejam and Earl, Miner 2049er, and Tropical Angel, along with brand new games, all exclusive to the Amico.
Priced between $149 and $179, the console is slated for release on October 10, 2020; it will only feature games that are rated E for Everyone, or E10+ and will not feature any "costly DLC" or in-app purchases.

Speaking over the weekend at Portland Retro Gaming Expo, Intellivision president Tommy Tallarico stressed the company's focus on accessibility and affordability.
"Most every game being made for the home consoles these days is created with only the hardcore gamer in mind," he said.
"We see a world where everyone is interested in playing at home and with friends... Our goal was to create a console that both gamers and non-gamers are able to have fun with and play together.
