Yifan Lu and madmonkey1907 managed to dump the PlayStation Classic MTK boot ROM via serial interface and then realized the key Sony used to encrypt areas of the system was the shared public key as opposed to using a private key kept secret as it should be in this case. In other words Sony failed to secure the device by mistakes in the encryption signing process, and it's not the first time that happens.
