Marvel’s Comic-Con Hall H panel this weekend past was, quite frankly, RIDICULOUS. We expected big announcements, but we just weren’t prepared for so many of them as Marvel Studios boss Kevin Feige outlined every single thing the studio is releasing in Phase 4 of the Marvel Cinematic Universe through to the end of 2021, including some real shockers like a rebooted Blade and Natalie Portman returning to play the female Thor from the comics.
But those films are just the top of this spandex-covered iceberg though. Feige and co are famous for planning their cinematic universe far in advance. In fact, earlier this year he alluded to already having the next five years mapped out, and as he revealed to MTV News after the Comic-Con panel we came very close to being shown a whole lot more of it on Sunday morning, including what’s coming in Phase 5.

So why did Feige hold back those other announcements? Well, exactly a month from now is Disney’s D23 Expo, and a number of film industry insiders are reportedly hearing that Marvel is going to continue dropping bombs there. The official expo schedule just got released recently, and the Saturday is hosting a huge Disney movie panel including something Marvel-related.
At the end of this weekend past’s Comic-Con panel, Feige had already mentioned that the movies that they had shown off weren’t all that the comic book studio has planned with the likes of Black Panther 2, Guardians of the Galaxy Vol.3, Captain Marvel 2 also in the pipeline. And let’s not forget those two comic elephants in the room in the Fantastic Four and X-Men, which Feige has confirmed are also in development now that Marvel owner Disney has taken over Fox and regained the film rights. Could those bombs be dropped in a mere matter of weeks? Oh, be still my geeky heart.
