More than $1.4 billion has been spent on [email protected] games to date, according to the programme's European lead Agostino Simonetta.
Simonetta gave the new figure as part of a talk at the Investment Summit Online. Player spending stood at $1 billion in July 2018, so the additional $400 million has been spent in less than two years.
[email protected] was first announced in August 2013, and the programme has now grown to encompass 3,400 studios across 64 countries -- at least one game from every continent except Antarctica has been released, Simonetta noted.
Microsoft is aware of around 1,800 [email protected] games in some stage of development.
