    Home/News Nostalgia

Ninja9393 back at HH posted a thread about the days in DCEmu during the LUA revolution. So I feel like sounding off a bit out of nostalgia. Feel free to come in and spout out some nostalgia(if you have any/care.)

Remembering back in the days of Sora's Adventure. This was the first thread about it:
    http://www.dcemu.co.uk/vbulletin/sho...sora+adventure

I remember thinking that it would be such a breeze to help out with coding and to make a game. As is fairly obvious, time proved me wrong.(I also learned I really never wanted to be a game coder anyway ) And then we got to dev point 0.2 of Sora's adventure. About that time gizmo356 released his lua naruto game:

    http://www.dcemu.co.uk/vbulletin/sho...sora+adventure

Also around the time we upstarted a crappy games forum called simplegamings that actually lasted a while before eventually returning to nothing. Thanks goes to The Hombrew Hunter for the site while it lasted.

    Among other things.../(o)(o)\.
You know EXACTLY what I'm talking about. The first one was legendary, and the others didn't even come close. Credit goes to the one and only Shadowprophet for that That was also the thread where I finally got into the forum community, along with gunn and gizmo, and a few others I think(Sorry--my memory is gone after that for those I missed.)

And I don't think anyone forgot about the how monkey-donkey 64 incident.

    http://www.dcemu.co.uk/vbulletin/sho...highlight=zion

Thats what actually got me into the homebrew scene in the first place. Though i can't find the M64 thread, I found another, sadder, thread with relation to it:

    http://www.dcemu.co.uk/vbulletin/sho...ghlight=monkey

Back in those times we thought that strmnrmn was just another PSDonkey, and he only made his emulator to spite PSMonkey. while his emulators slowed significantly in release after monkey left, he proved he wasn't just a generic clone.

    P.S.Anyone remember S34MU5?

    http://www.dcemu.co.uk/vbulletin/sho...ghlight=monkey

Zionmax and the whole Zion incident. Hoo boy.

    http://www.dcemu.co.uk/vbulletin/sho...highlight=zion

Zion was actually a rather good coder for being so new to the stuff. I don't remember the specifics, but he was even a mod at DCEmu once. As far as I remember he was a pretty good one too, at least for a while. then he basically went off the deep end. Though to this threads end I can relate:

PSP-Updates was the site i went to for approximately 1 week before coming over here. You can probably guess why. Oh, and anyone remember F-Res, or Future Resurrection? That thing got scrapped. Fast.

    http://www.dcemu.co.uk/vbulletin/sho...highlight=zion

Well what can I say. I miss those days, though I don't know if I'd set the virtual clock back to go to them. Bitter-sweet times. I consider that the golden age of DCEmu, but I wasn't here when the Dreamcast was big so I have no clue what I'm talking about.

Time, time again. Well thats enough out of me for now.

I miss the days before I was registered here when The Hombrew Hunter would pop in the IRC channel most nights. I also miss Vendeta's presence & piss-poor spelling .

Yeah, I remember S34MU5 & when I used to own him in Counter-Strike Source... at his own server!

gunntims0103 & Cap'n 1time... whatever happened to those guys? I'm sure they all moved on in life like most of those that left.

The IRC channel was great, until we moved servers & lost a ton of our previous members.

There sure has been some memorable times here at DCEmu.
One that sticks out for me was the whole Yoshi stealing code for PSXP, and loads of DCEmu users willing to go against GPL rules for it. Only a few of us actually took a stand against the emulator.
It turned out to be crap anyway!

Ahhhh I miss it all, it was real fun. I posted on HH about Halo 2d and how that alone brought me into coding. Looking back I was such a noob here in the beginning
