Default PSX2PSP EBOOTS that crash then work

my very first post(make that thread), w00h00

well, i came across something really odd a day or two ago.
i had this eboot i made for N-Gen(PSX) a while ago that never worked.
i updated to 390 m33-3 and decided to try it out again to see if it would work.
and for the first time ever, it booted and played perfectly.
it did have some garbage at the beginning load screens, but other than that, beautiful.

here's the catch, i turned it off to come back to it later. but, when i turned it on it just did the usual crash after the PS Logo splash screen.
i was very disappointed, so i tried again and again until it booted up a second time.
same deal, a little garbage in the opening loads, but good after that.
i turned it off, and it crashed again and again.

it seems to work perfectly(garbage aside) about 10% of the time.
i've played it for a few hours at a time about 4-5 times.

my point isn't to prove it's a working title.
it really isn't if it only works sometimes.
i was just thinking that perhaps there could be a work around or a patch that could be made for games that have this particular problem....
i couldn't name any other game that does this, but it seems fixable.

has anyone else experienced anything like this with their eboots?

Never had this problem, but it might be a problem within your psx game.

OMG, I'm so glad I found this thread.

Okay, I've been trying to get N-Gen playing on Popstation for a few days of solid effort now. Details of my trials are here:
    http://snesorama.us/board/showthread...160#post317160

Anyway, I'm writing to ask if you ever got any closer and if you could document what you used to make your e-boot.

I own the NTSC-US version, and have a couple other rips. No combination of conversions seems to work for me, not even a tiny little bit. I've tried on every Popstation version through 5.00.

    Any details would be appreciated,

hey, i just ran across your posts when i was looking for answers to my posts....
a little discouraging when you find out it's just 2 people in the whole world having this issue....kinda funny, lol.

so far, all i have is that it does work randomly.
since then, i just repeatedly fire it up until it works, then i just put it to sleep until i wanna play it again.
    i love NGEN

new or old firmwares don't seem to change anything as i've been trying since at least 380...and i believe even before that on 340OE.

i know the image is tip top cuz i own it(NTSC). i play it on my playstation and my emulators.
i'm going to try some of the patchers out there, see what i turn up.

just as an opinion, i don't think it's the encryption...mainly because it does work sometimes....i don't think the encryption just decides to give me a freebie once in a while.

it may be something in the startup sequence of the game itself.
while i am not versed at chopping ISOs, i can try cutting out the intro and seeing if it's the culprit.
i dunno how easy or entirely not easy that will be. if you know how to do something like that, give it a shot and lemme know.

    good luck.
