Need help setting up WiFi usind ad-hoc method

Hello everyone. I was wondering if anyone knew how I can use my laptop's ad hoc as Wi-Fi for my DS/Wii. The connection shows up on the DS and Wii but it won't work on either of them. Please, do not tell me to get a router or a Nintendo USB Connector (Nintendo doesn't even sell these anymore in case you didn't know) because I am 100% broke and my parents are not going to supply me with money just to buy some device that will enchance my gaming experience. I have read about people that have managed to pull this ad-hoc Wi-Fi trick off. I really need to know how to set everything up and if there is any special programs that are needed or would facilitate the process. Thank you very much in advance!

have you tried looking it up on like google or something or wikipedia and if those dont work maybe theres something on the nintendo support website
