Fastest way to update from 2.60 to 4.01 m33-2

My friend is still on 2.60 official sony release firmware and is finally wanting to go unofficial.
I understand that I could take a long time and go through every possible firmware sequentially, but if possible I was hoping for a more expedient method.
Anyone know of a fast method to do this?
Preferably under an hour (excluding downloading the updates themselves, of course).
Any help would be appreciated.

PS: He has a TA-079 model mo-bo.

Whether its a Slim or a Phat the MMSX and a Pandora battery will get you strait to 4.01 M33-2 with many extras.

an alternative that doesnt use pandora: Downgrade to 1.50 then up to 4.01M33-2
Use the TIFF exploit one if he doesnt have GTA LCS.

no need for tiff exploit that one is a little risky, just update to 2.80 and use the 2.80 downgrader (last and safest downgrader) to 1.50 then 3.52M33 then 3.52M33-4 then 4.01M33, but you can skip all that using pandora and despertar del cementerio

and if he is on 2.60 that can't be a slim

Thanks, all, for your responses. I think I'm going to use Mike's solution. I do happen to have a copy of the old GTA:LCS (the unpatched version).

PS: If that fails, I'll totally use MMSX
