Help on quake online multiplayer

Okay I am a complete noob when it comes to this so please if someone just sends me files I WILL NOT KNOW WHAT TO DO...so please explain
So I have quake 1 on my psp and it is the full game. I really want to play online on it but when i go to the multiplayer section it says no communications available and it wont give me the option of turning on infrastructure or ad hoc .Can someone please help me so I can play online? Also I have cfw 4.01 m33 and I use a mac if that has anything to do with what I need to do. Thanks

It gives me the option of adhoc or infrastructure but they wont do anything even with switch on it always just says off on both of them.
