can u save games on ur box

hey im new to all this and i have played with people that mod thier xbox and talked about it and ive heard that you can make ur xbox so that u can save whole games in it and play them off ur box with no cd is there anyway to do that?
if u could could you save the games on ur xbox and then hook that up to a 360 and play them on the 360 but have them all saved on the xbox?
