Forum UK mobile broadband users face horrible billshock

Customers that exceed their monthly limit by 1Gb could receive a bill for over £200.
The consumer advice specialist Broadband Expert says mobile broadband packages typically have lower download limits than their fixed line equivalents.

It claims O2 and 3 charge the most for exceeding download limits at 19.6p and 10p per Mb respectively. Of the remaining providers Vodafone charge £15 per Gb (equivalent of 1.46p per Mb), Orange charge 1.46p per Mb, while the only provider not to charge for exceeding download limits is T-Mobile.

Rob Webber, Broadband Expert’s Commercial Director, believes providers should make the information relating to these additional charges more accessible. He said: “information on run on rates is not always easy to find and not obviously visible on most advertising”.

That sucks. Australia has been charging large excess usage fees on mobile data and even fixed line for years and it's not fun.
