Nintendo's Wii console has once again topped the list of US hardware sales, shifting 753,000 units in the month of February, according to NPD data.

It was followed by the DS on 588,000, while the Xbox 360 saw its biggest ever sales month outside of the Holiday period, selling 391,000 consoles.

Sony also had some reason for cheer, with the biggest month-on-month rise seen with the PlayStation 3, selling 276,000, while the PlayStation Portable and PlayStation 2 rounded off the list on 199,000 and 131,000 respectively.

That means that Nintendo platforms accounted for over 1.4 million units across the month, while Sony sold over 600,000 units overall.

In total hardware sales hit almost USD 533 million, up 11 per cent on last February, and yielding a year-to-date total of USD 862 million.
