At the LA Games Conference 2009, Nick Williams from research company OTX GamePlan announced the most anticipated games of the year, according to their polling:

For Xbox 360, gamers are clamoring for Halo 3: ODST, which had the highest “purchase intent,” Modern Warfare 2, which had the highest “pre-order intent,” as well as Madden 2010, Final Fantasy XIII and Mass Effect 2.

On PS3, Final Fantasy XIII fares a whole lot better — it has the highest purchase intent of any PS3 title. God of War 3 leads with pre-order intent. Also high on the list are Ratchet & Clank: A Crack In Time and Uncharted 2.

Wii gamers are by far most excited about Wii Sports Resort, according to OTX’s polling. That title has a very high purchase intent. Leading pre-orders is Madden NFL 2010. Mario & Sonic at the Winter Games is also highly anticipated, but nothing else is charting that high, including the new Punch Out! Williams explains that Wii owners are content with their current games, or are desperate for the games currently on the market, judging by eBay prices. On average, Wii Fit goes for $126 (MSRP - $89.99) and Mario Kart Wii goes for $66 (MSRP - $49.99).
