When it was released almost ten years ago, Majesty captured people's attention as an unconventional real time strategy title. Instead of directly manipulating your forces, you had to persuade them to do your bidding via flags and bounties. It was a creative twist on the traditional fantasy game, and fans couldn't wait to return to this universe. While it's taken longer than many fans would have wanted, the sequel will be coming from Paradox Interactive later this year.

Majesty 2 will be keeping many of the traditional elements that made the first title stand out, like the fantasy setting as well as the RTS and RPG elements. Some of the same heroes and villains from the first game will make a return, although Paradox wasn't willing to mention which ones will be included. Some of the voice actors from the first title will return as well. Similarly, focusing on defending caravans and trade posts will be vital to ensuring that your kingdom runs smoothly. But along with these standards will come some additional improvements. Along with the standard attack and defend flags that you could use to entice heroes to do your bidding, there will be explore and fear flags to expand your control of your warriors.

Speaking of your heroes, there are now two ways to resurrect these characters, which is a vast improvement over the first title. In the original, heroes couldn't be brought back if they died. In Majesty 2, you can pay to revive heroes at a graveyard, or have a cleric use a spell to instantly return a fallen character to the land of the living. Further adding to the heroes is the newly included House of Lords, which will allow you to grant lordships to specific heroes. This gives you the ability to bring heroes through each mission without having to start over again, meaning that by the end of the 16 missions in the game, you should have extremely powerful warriors. Combine this with the fact that you can now lump heroes together into fighting units, and you have a significant force that should be able to protect your kingdom.

Majesty 2 will also pack additional side missions to take advantage of, as well as multiplayer maps with completely separate quests from the single player campaign. Along with new 3D visuals, sound effects and improved AI, Majesty 2 will be an interesting twist on the fantasy strategy title when it comes out later this year.
